Deputy Minister of Tourism, Costas Koumis, held meetings in Brussels on October 21st, during which he discussed sustainability, competitiveness and resilience of the European tourism ecosystem, a press release issued here today says. He also attended a promotional Roadshow for Cyprus in Brussels on the previous day.
Koumis met with the Director of the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE), Magda Kopczynska, the Director of the Directorate-General for Competition (DG COMPET), Isabel Riano, and Anna Panagopoulou, Director of the Office of the European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas.
During the meetings the Deputy Minister discussed the main priorities of the Cyprus Presidency of the EU Council in 2026 in tourism and exchanged views on timely and effective preparation for 2026, noting the importance of close cooperation with the EU institutions.
Road show for the promotion of Cyprus in Ghent, promotional actions in the Netherlands
Koumis attended on Wednesday a Roadshow in Ghent for the promotion of Cyprus as a tourism destination in the Belgian market. Arrivals in Cyprus from Belgium record an increase of 6.5%, compared to last year’s results, the reads.
Furthermore, it is added that the Deputy Ministry organized promotional actions in the Netherlands, to enhance Cyprus’ presence in the Dutch market. The Dutch market records an increase of 35%, compared to last year’s data.
