Cloudy skies, rain to prevail over majority of PH on Friday due to ITCZ

The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will bring rain and cloudy skies over the majority of the country on Friday particularly Metro Manila, Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Northern Mindanao, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).


“Makakaranas ng kalat-kalat na pag-ulan dito po sa may Southern Luzon, dito po sa may Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Mindoro provinces, Rombol at Marinduque,” said weather specialist Ariel Rojas.

(Widespread rain will be experienced in Southern Luzon, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Mindoro provinces, Rombol and Marinduque.)

“Magiging maulap din po na may kasamang mga kalat kalat na pagulan with the possibility of severe thunderstorms na posibleng magdulot ng malakas na pagulan sa Visayas at sa Northern Mindanao at Caraga dahil sa ITCZ,” he added.

(There will also be cloudy skies bringing scattered showers as well as severe thunderstorms that could possibly cause heavy rains in the Visayas and in Northern Mindanao and Caraga due to the ITCZ.)

The rest of Luzon and Mindanao, on the other hand, will experience fairer weather but chances of thunderstorms forming during the afternoon until evening still remain.

Forecast temperature range in key cities/areas according to Pagasa for Thursday:

Metro Manila: 24 to 30 degrees Celsius

Baguio City: 17 to 23 degrees Celsius

Laoag City: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius

Tuguegarao: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius

Legazpi City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius

Puerto Princesa City: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius

Tagaytay: 21 to 29 degrees Celsius

Kalayaan Islands: 27 to 32 degrees Celsius

Iloilo City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius

Cebu: 26 to 31 degrees Celsius

Tacloban City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius

Cagayan De Oro City: 26 to 31 degrees Celsius

Zamboanga City: 24 to 35 degrees Celsius

Davao City: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius

No gale warning is currently raised but moderate to rough seas are expected in the seaboards of Northern Luzon, while moderate sea conditions are expected in the rest of the country’s coasts.–>
