Cameroon-born Embolo wreaks own country playing for Switzerland

Breel Embolo scored the only goal on Thursday as Switzerland beat Cameroon 1-0 at the ongoing World Cup in Qatar.

Embolo is a Cameroonian and opted to play for Switzerland. He wreaked his own country of birth on Thursday with a superb goal.

Embolo moved with his family from Cameroon to France before finally settling in Switzerland and decided to play for the Swiss national team.

He struck on 48th minute to give Switzerland the needed goal to claim all three points in their first game in Group G.

Xherdan Shaqiri played a pass to the feet of Embolo and he shot into the back of the net from inside the box.

He did not celebrate the goal, as it was against his country of birth.

Earlier on 10th minute, Yann Sommer pulled off a great save to deny Bryan Mbeumo, who made himself some space inside the box and unleashed a quick shot towards the middle of the goal.

On 57th minute, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting got inside the penalty area and sent a powerful shot that almost ends inside the net. The keeper was alert and made a good save.

Andre Onana pulled off a great save  on 66th minute to deny Ruben Vargas after receiving a precise defence-splitting pass. The effort was headed for the right side of the goal, but the goalkeeper dived superbly to stop it.

On added time, Haris Seferovic  found himself free inside the box and pulled the trigger, but his effort was brilliantly stopped by one of the defending players.
