“Malawi must embrace Chinese policy direction for economic, infrastructure development”-UTM leader Kabambe

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-UTM president Dalitso Kabambe has emphasised the need for Malawi to embrace Chinese policy direction which China towards enhancing Malawi’s economic and infrastructure development.

UTM leader Kabambe, an economist by profession, shared the sentiments on the 76th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor Kabambe, China is a good case study as it was poorer than Malawi when the country got its independence in 1964.

“For instance Malawi should emulate China’s approach on economic development by leveraging on locally available resources”, he said.

Chinese ambassador to Malawi Lu Xu says her government has significantly contributed to easing Malawi’s pressure on debt repayment through debt restructuring to assist in reviving its ailing economy.
