MANILA, Philippines — A new age has dawned in Philippine volleyball.
This after the Philippine National Volleyball Federation Friday elected Anthony Liao as its new president, succeeding Ramon Suzara.
Liao, representing Spikers’ Turf, got the nod from the 13 board members voted by the general assembly in polls done in Taguig.
Dr. Arnel Hajan, who drew the most votes with 45 among the 13 board members, won his second term as chairman, while others elected were Yul Benosa as vice president, Otie Camangian as secretary-general, Ricky Palou as treasurer and Roger Banzuela as auditor.
Also elected to the board were Michael Vargas, Sherwin Maganda, Danilo Cong-O, Edward Lee, Charo Soriano, Fr. Vic Calvo, OP, and Ma. Socorro Calleja.
Liao was part of the Sports Vision group that formed the now successful Premier Volleyball League and its men’s version, the Spikers’ Turf.
Suzara has yet to make a statement as of this writing.
