Hot, humid weather in most parts of PH on Thursday, April 23 – Pagasa

Many areas in the country will experience hot and humid weather with chances of rainshowers on Thursday, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the ridge of the high pressure area will continue to prevail over Northern and Central Luzon, bringing less chance of rains. Easterlies, or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, will affect Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

‘Northern and Central Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, while hot and humid weather and chances of thunderstorms will be felt in other parts of the country,’ weather specialist Leanne Loreto said in the 5 a.m. weather forecast.

She also said that the same weather conditions will persist over Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao. She added that there will still be chances of isolated rainshowers.

Meanwhile, Pagasa on Wednesday issued an El Niño Alert, noting that there is a 79 percent chance of the phenomenon emerging in June-July-August 2026 season and may persist until early 2027. The agency noted that there is now an increased probability of ‘drier-than-usual’ conditions, which can bring dry spells and drought in some parts of the country.

It added that above-normal rainfall conditions will prevail over the western section of the country during the southwest monsoon or habagat season.

It also shared that fewer but strong tropical cyclones are expected to enter the country this year, with nine to 17 tropical cyclones forecast from May to October.
