LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The country’s civil rights group under the banner, National Advocacy Platform (NAP) has advised newly elected Malawi Parliament Speaker Sameer Suleiman to serve Malawian with integrity, dignity.
An appeal comes barely hours after Suleiman was as the head of National Assembly.
Suleiman who is governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) beat Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Peter Dimba.
Victor Musowa and Esther Jolobala occupy First and Second Deputy Speaker slots respectively.
NAP Chairperson Benedicto Kondowe told The Maravi Post on Thursday morning that Suleiman must exercise his power to put the nation at heart in Parliament.
“Suleman’s victory, as the DPP-sponsored candidate, underscores the ruling party’s strong organizational grip and its ability to consolidate a parliamentary majority early in the new term.
“It is a decisive political statement of control and cohesion within the governing ranks—one that sets the tone for the new Parliament. That said, the debate has been settled through a secret ballot, and nothing can overturn the free will of the House,” says NAP Chairperson.
Kondowe appeals, “What now remains is to offer counsel to the new Speaker: to uphold the dignity and honour that the August House embodies. He has the nation to serve—millions who stand behind his strategic role—and the chance to prove the doubters wrong by leading the House with humility, fairness, and a genuine spirit of service”.
NAP urges further, “Suleiman leadership will be judged not by how well he serves the ruling party, but by how strongly he upholds the authority and credibility of Parliament as a national institution above partisan lines.
“His new role is both a test and an opportunity—to learn, adapt, and refine the leadership skills necessary for the full and impartial discharge of his duties. Wishing him every success in this noble responsibility”.
Meanwhile, President Peter Mutharika has appointed Jappie Mhango as Leader of The House.
The actress, 28, stunned in a sheer silver gown at Variety’s “Power of Women” event on Wednesday, October 29. She smiled as she hit the red carpet, keeping her jewelry minimal and her makeup neutral. Her blond hair was styled in a simple bob with a side part.
Sweeney debuted her chic new hairstyle at the AFI Fest premiere of her film Christy on October 25. Her platinum tresses were curled and parted down the middle; her pastel-pink Miu Miu halter dress also turned heads.
Sweeney’s colorist, Jacob Schwartz, told Vogue recently that the Anyone But You star had been “looking for a change.”
She “wanted to have a big hair moment for the red carpet to support her new movie, Christy,” he explained earlier this month. “It felt like the perfect time to do something bold.”

Meanwhile, her longtime hairstylist, Glen Coco, said that since Sweeney had dramatically “transformed herself” to play boxer Christy Martin in the biopic, set for release on November 7, he “wanted to morph her into this updated version of herself in real life. Something new and fresh to close out the rest of the year.”
Sweeney gained 30 pounds for the role, telling Vanity Fair in September that her “body was completely different” while filming.
“I didn’t fit in any of my clothes,” she recalled. “I’m usually a size 23 in jeans, and I was wearing a size 27. My boobs got bigger. And my butt got huge. It was crazy! I was like, ‘Oh, my god.’”
She added that she was proud of herself and called the film an “amazing” experience.
“I was so strong, like crazy strong,” she gushed.
As she promotes Christy, Sweeney is owning her bombshell image. She spoke with Variety for an interview published Monday, saying, “I play a lot of very divisive characters, and I think that a lot of people think they know me, but they don’t. So when people think, ‘Ah, she’s a sex symbol,’ or ‘She’s leaning into that,’ I’m like, ‘No, I just feel good and I’m doing it for myself and I feel strong.’”
She continued, “I hope that I can inspire other women to be confident and just flaunt what they got and feel good because you shouldn’t have to apologize or hide or cover up in any room.”
While talking to Glamour UK circa 2023, Sweeney recalled that she “used to feel uncomfortable about how big my boobs were” in high school and had planned to undergo breast reduction when she “turned 18.”
By that time, however, her mother, Lisa Sweeney, persuaded her not to have the operation.
“My mom told me, ‘Don’t do it. You’ll regret it in college.’ And I’m so glad I didn’t,” she said. “I like them. They’re my best friends.”
During the Thursday, October 30, episode of The Kardashians, Kris Jenner invited Caitlyn, 76, to their old home to say goodbye before they put it up for sale.
“About an hour ago I called Caitlyn and I said, ‘What are you doing?’ Of course she said, ‘I’m eating dinner and watching Fox News,’” Kris, 69, told the cameras. “I said, ‘Of course you are.’”
Kris and Caitlyn’s kids — Kendall, 29, and Kylie, 28 — were happy about their reunion, but Kendall also used Caitlyn’s cameo as a way to update the audience on her status with her dad.
“I definitely wasn’t expecting my dad to be here just knowing the relationship my mom has with my dad. Not that it is bad, it is just distant,” Kendall shared.Kylie added, “I don’t know if my parents will ever be best friends again but this is definitely a great first step.”
In a confessional, Kendall elaborated on where she currently stands with Caitlyn, adding, “I have to compartmentalize my relationship with my dad in a way. Because I love her and she is my dad. We have a good relationship but sometimes I get frustrated with her with certain things.”
She continued: “We just have completely different views on things. But other than that, I always want to include her. I know she doesn’t have a lot outside of her family and I know she gets lonely.”
Thursday’s episode marked Caitlyn’s first appearance on the family reality show in years amid ups and downs with Kris and stepdaughters Khloé Kardashian, Kim Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian. The former athlete became a parental figure to Kris’ children (including Rob Kardashian) when they began dating in the ’90s. After they got married, the then-couple expanded their family with Kendall and Kylie.
After two decades of marriage, Caitlyn and Kris announced their separation in 2013. Caitlyn publicly came out as transgender in 2015 — the same year that her divorce from Kris was finalized. Caitlyn’s bond with her stepchildren seemingly became contentious after the release of her tell-all book, The Secrets of My Life, in 2017.
“This was my dad for 24 years and it hurts me too,” Khloé, 41, shared in a May 2024 episode of The Kardashians.
Kim, 45, meanwhile, didn’t appear as bothered by how her relationship with Caitlyn evolved.
“I got so many text messages saying, ‘Doesn’t that hurt your feelings what your stepdad says about you?’ It honestly doesn’t,” Kim told cameras. “I had such a great stepdad who raised me so none of those things that are said — even if twisted — are going to make me think differently of the life I had.”

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Minority Shareholders Association of Listed Companies (MISALICO) has sounded an alarm over Malawi’s sluggish capital market growth, calling on both government and private sector players to take deliberate steps to expand listings on the Malawi Stock Exchange (MSE).
With only 16 companies currently trading on the exchange, MISALICO says the situation is stifling investment opportunities and undermining the spirit of economic inclusivity that the stock market was created to promote.
Speaking at a press briefing in Blantyre on Thursday, the association’s Secretary General, Reverend Frank Harawa, described the low number of listed companies as “a serious economic concern” for a country with over 22 million citizens.
“The MSE has existed since 1994 but progress has been painfully slow. The stock market was established to help companies raise capital and give Malawians a chance to invest in their own economy. Yet, 30 years later, we are still talking about only 16 listings,” Harawa lamented.
He noted that recent public interest in buying shares has grown tremendously thanks to awareness campaigns by the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM), MISALICO and the Capital Markets Association (CMA).
However, the lack of new listings has caused a mismatch between demand and supply, leading to inflated share prices.
“For once, people are making money from the stock market, but the excitement risks fading if there are not enough companies to invest in,” Harawa cautioned.
He proposed that existing listed companies should consider issuing more shares through rights or bonus issues to meet rising investor appetite.
“Entities like NITL, Sunbird, National Bank and Press Corporation should expand their share base to allow more Malawians to participate,” he said.
The MISALICO official also questioned why several telecommunications and infrastructure firms have yet to fulfill legal obligations under the Communications Act, which mandates them to offer 20 percent of their shares to Malawians.
“Only TNM and Airtel have complied. Others, including tower companies, must follow suit,” he insisted.
Turning to state-owned enterprises, Harawa urged the government to partially list some of the country’s 70-plus parastatals, arguing that public listings could boost transparency and curb corruption.
“When companies list, they open themselves to public scrutiny through audited financials. That kind of accountability is healthy for the economy,” he said, citing ESCOM and Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) as ideal candidates for partial listing.
Harawa further proposed that large-scale mining companies operating in Malawi should list at least 20 percent of their shares locally.
He argued that such a move would allow Malawians from farmers to civil servants to directly benefit from the nation’s mineral wealth.
“It’s not right that foreign entities extract our gold and other minerals while locals watch from the sidelines. Listing these firms will give Malawians a chance to own part of the country’s natural resource story,” he emphasized.
Harawa concluded by saying that expanding the number of companies on the MSE would not only deepen the capital market but also drive a stronger culture of ownership, transparency and national economic empowerment.
MISALICO continues to champion the rights of minority shareholders, pushing for fairness, inclusivity, and accountability in Malawi’s evolving investment landscape.

“I actually have a little bit of a surprise, I am a mom now,” Megan, 35, said during the Wednesday, October 29, reunion. “I had a baby boy two and a half months ago. The girls were like, ‘You got a little thick.’ I’m like, ‘Thank you.’”
According to Megan, she named her son Brooks and gushed that he is her “whole world.”
“I now know more than ever [that] I was meant on this earth to be a mom,” she said. “He’s amazing. Our family’s very happy.”
Megan welcomed Brooks with her new partner, Paul, who even attended the reunion taping.
“We wrapped filming in April, and Paul and I got introduced through a mutual friend in July,” she explained. “We got pregnant three months into dating. We definitely had our ups and downs. I’m not gonna say it was perfect, but Paul’s been amazing.”
As for Megan’s ex-fiancée from the pods, Jordan Keltner, the dad of one confirmed Megan was “transparent” about her pregnancy to him before the reunion after someone contacted him to “stir the pot.”
Nearly one week before the reunion aired on Netflix, Megan was spotted in now-viral photos with a then-unidentified man and newborn baby outside her house in Denver, Colorado. She did not immediately address the photos, her companions or their relationship status.
Megan had filmed Love Is Blind season 9 two years ago, during which she got engaged sight unseen to fellow contestant Keltner. Megan ultimately broke up with Jordan, 30, over major lifestyle differences.
“I’ve never dated somebody with a kid,” she said in the finale, referring to Jordan’s 5-year-old son, Luca, from a previous relationship. “All the men that I have dated up to this have had a fairly flexible schedule, and that’s how all my friends are.”
While Megan met Jordan’s son off camera, she questioned whether she was ready to step into parenthood herself.
“In the pods, I was really leaning into him being a single father [and] the excitement of it. I don’t think I thought through how challenging it is and how I would need to make a lot of concessions to how I currently live,” she said tearfully during a confessional interview. “Honestly, this has me questioning if I’m even cut out to be a mom. I don’t know, maybe I am too caught up in my own life. All I wanted coming into this experiment was to find love and to find my partner.”

Jordan understood Megan’s perspective, later telling Variety that he wasn’t blindsided by the wellness entrepreneur’s decision to call off their engagement.
“We spent hundreds of hours with each other. We had every conversation there was to have. We understood each other’s intentions,” Jordan told the outlet earlier this month. “We live two different lives. I’m a single dad. I never wanted her to have immediate responsibility with my son. That was never a conversation. It was like, ‘OK, I got this. All I need you to do is love that guy. That’s it.’”
He continued, “I have a very healthy relationship with his mom and stepdad. We operate as a unit. The expectations with her being involved were hanging out with us and loving him. That was all I wanted. Everything else was just icing on the cake.”
According to Jordan, he could sense that Megan had a few hesitations about getting married even before they formally called it quits.
“I want to get married to someone who wants to get married to me. I don’t want someone to have hesitations. That’s not fair to her,” Jordan told Variety. “We had discussions about not wanting to annul our marriage. We didn’t want to get a divorce. We wanted this to be a forever thing. At the end of the day, she decided it wasn’t going to be a forever thing for her. She made the right choice.”
Megan and Jordan were one of six couples to get engaged during Love Is Blind season 9. All of the engaged pairs broke up by the finale, marking a franchise first.
“While we’re always rooting for our participants to find a lifelong commitment because that’s what they all say they come to Love Is Blind for, most importantly, we root for them to make the decisions they feel are right for themselves,” show creator Chris Coelen told Tudum earlier in October. “I think that’s what happened here.”
“Wow what an incredible experience this was,” Amelia, 24, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, October 28, alongside snaps from the artistic shoot. “This was the most liberating and feminine I have ever felt. To be so connected to nature and my body was such a life changing experience for me.”
Amelia was photographed by Mario Sorrenti for Beyond Noise in several natural landscapes. One photo included Amelia sans clothing, only wearing a long, cross gold chain necklace as she posed underwater. Other snaps included Amelia lying in the water only to be covered by the water waves.
In addition to the water scenes. Amelia posed alongside tree-lined landscapes in a lush forest and rock formations.
“Thank you so much @mario_sorrenti for making me feel more comfortable than ever in my own skin,” she continued. “Thank you for allowing me to frolic naked at your beautiful home to tell this story @mary_frey this is the most me I have ever felt. Sorry instagram…. Love you. I’m a mermaid!!!! 🦪🐚🦀✨💦🌊🐟❤️🔥.”
Amelia got her mother’s approval as Rinna, 62 — who has posed for Playboy in the past — took to the comments section to gush over her daughter’s project.
“Gorgeous,” the actress replied.
Pop star Addison Rae and designer Zac Posen also showed love to Amelia by leaving heart emojis on the post.
Amelia is the youngest daughter of Rinna and Harry. The couple are also parents of daughter Delilah, 27. (Hamlin is also father of son, Dimitri, whom he welcomed during a previous relationship.)
Before she was modeling, Amelia was known for her multiple appearances on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alongside her mom.. She made her runway debut in 2018 at the Dennis Basso Spring/Summer show.
“Omgomgomg!!!!!!
