Suni Lee didn’t just walk the Victoria’s Secret runway — she strutted past the haters.
The six-time Olympic medalist, 22, faced some online shade over her petite stature after making history at the VS Fashion Show as one of the first major athletes alongside WNBA player Angel Reese to hit the catwalk at the lingerie and loungewear brand’s star-studded event.
Lee posted a TikTok clip of herself lip-synching to Ariana Grande‘s “Successful” in response to the critics on Saturday, October 18, captioning her video, “Can u guys stop bullying me.”
“You were on the runway and they were mad and at HOME,” one fan fired back at her haters.
Another social media user passionately defended her milestone moment, responding, “Girl I got your back. Why are people bullying you because of your height, like u can’t control that bro,” to which Lee replied, “Like, literally.”
“Who’s bullying you?! I won’t allow it,” Ming Lee Simmons commented while joining the chat.
Lee not only liked several of the comments, but also went on to thank her supporters, writing, “I love yall 😭🥹 my girls 🤍🤍”
The 5-foot-tall gymnast oozed confidence when she stepped out wearing a bright pink sports bra and underwear set, low-rise shorts and a matching jacket featuring miniature wings while members of the K-pop group Twice were performing during the event on October 15. Her look was completed with sparkling pumps.

mfort zone … But that’s exactly why I said yes,” Lee told Marie Claire in an interview prior to the show. (Lee is a famed member of the “Golden Girls” squad that won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.)
Lee noted that she also wanted to inspire other girls to embrace their individuality.
“Growing up, I didn’t see many girls who looked like me in spaces like this. To now be here as an athlete, as someone who’s worked so hard to achieve her dreams, it feels powerful,” she added. “I want young girls to know they don’t have to fit into just one box. You can chase Olympic gold and still own your femininity.”
As for Reese, she made her mark as one of the ladies featured in the “Wings Reveal” lineup.
The two-time All-Star, 23, wore a pink floral lingerie set paired with a feathered stole for one look, also hitting the runway in lace lingerie paired with a cropped shirt and iconic angel wings.
Reese echoed Lee’s sentiments while speaking to Us Weekly ahead of her catwalk moment.
“I’m really excited,” Reese gushed to Us. “I’m happy to be here in a room full of amazing women. Just a dream come true.”
As for how she felt about being one of the first athletes to make their debut in the runway show, Reese told Us, “It means everything. I know a lot of people are gonna be watching today, and hopefully young girls today get inspiration that they can do these same things.”
She added, “Be a multi dimensional athlete, businesswoman, fashion girl, podcaster, entrepreneur — everything that I’ve done already — and just continue to live the dream.”
On Friday, Netflix started streaming a gripping new crime documentary that has to be seen to be believed.
The Perfect Neighbor is told entirely through police bodycam footage, chronicling the events leading up to the tragic murder of Ajike Owens by her neighbor, Susan Lorincz.
Watch With Us thinks The Perfect Neighbor is one of the best films of the year, and an early theatrical run even qualifies it for the Academy Awards.
We explain the real story behind the documentary and why it’s essential viewing.
On June 2, 2023, Ajike “A.J.” Owens was shot and killed by her neighbor, 58-year-old Susan Lorincz, after an altercation between Lorincz and Owens’ children. After the altercation, Owens knocked on Lorincz’s front door and Lorincz fired a single shot at her through the door while her 10-year-old son was next to her. Lorincz was convicted of manslaughter in 2024 and sentenced to 25 years in prison, and her use of “Stand Your Ground” was deemed unjustified.
The murder drew national attention and put Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” laws further into question, a law which can easily be abused and misused, and directed at people who are not posing any tangible threat. It was also a crime instigated by racial prejudices, as Lorincz’s status as an older white woman in a diverse neighborhood allowed her to exploit her whiteness and shield her from punishment by the police. She allegedly called them numerous times a day to complain about the neighborhood’s largely black, young children playing near her house, yet nothing was done to reprimand her for her bogus calls.
It’s Riveting and Impactful
The Perfect Neighbor utilizes a unique documentary technique — free from narration or talking-head interviews, the entire documentary plays out through months of police bodycam footage recorded during visits to Lorincz’s neighborhood after every call she made. Preferring to show instead of tell, director Geeta Gandbhir uses no narration and allows the true events of the incident to speak for themselves. This method creating a chilling portrait of escalating violence and hatred.
Speaking with the Los Angeles Times, Gandbhir explained that she felt that the footage, in its striking objectivity, had an immersive quality. Thus, she wanted audiences to be able to experience what the community experience. At the same time, the footage paints a portrait of the lively community before the tragedy. While we always see the aftermaths of these types of horrific incidents, we rarely get to see the beforehand, and The Perfect Neighbor allows the joy that the neighborhood once held to still exist somewhere.
Is ‘The Perfect Neighbor’ Worth Watching?
Susan Lorincz in The Perfect NeighborNetflix
Yes. In addition to being a damning indictment of Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” laws — which allow people to legally use deadly force should they feel threatened — The Perfect Neighbor highlights systemic biases of the American legal system. For one, the sheer amount of times Lorincz called the police was evidently spurious and incited by her own racial hatred (she admitted to using slurs towards the children, and even threw things at them), yet the police did not feel she was anything more than a nuisance because of her status as an older white woman.
Through its footage, The Perfect Neighbor lays bare the way race is weaponized against others, and the way the carceral state neglects threats that put people in danger due to instilled racial biases. It’s an infuriating reality, and watching the film will likely not leave you satisfied but instead frustrated that this preventable death was allowed to happen. The hope is that films like these, which exposes these injustices, can help enact change.

People obtained a report from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) on Monday, October 20, which revealed that James “requested a visual approach” to land before attempting to make a full turn. He then lost control of the aircraft, causing it to crash.
James stated that he “intended to perform a 360-degree turn to land,” per the report, but there was no further communication to air traffic control.
“Surveillance video showed the airplane flying over the runway before initiating a descending left turn,” the NTSB report read. “The airplane continued descending in the left turn before entering a tightening spiral and impacting the ground.”
The report also has multiple witness statements. One claimed that they saw the airplane “rocking from side-to-side” before it was “rolling inverted and descending behind a tree line.”
No signs of engine failure were found and the aircraft is still undergoing investigation.

News broke on September 18 that James, known for writing hits like Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus Take the Wheel,” died at age 57 in the plane crash, which occurred near North Carolina’s Iotla Valley Elementary School. It was later confirmed that James’ wife, Melody Carole, 59, and his stepdaughter, Meryl Wilson, were also killed in the crash.
“A Cirrus SR22T crashed in a field in Franklin, North Carolina, around 3 p.m. local time on Thursday, Sept. 18. Three people were on board,” a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) read at the time, confirming that the NTSB would be launching an investigation into the accident.
The crash took place two days after Wilson’s 28th birthday, per her final post on social media.
“28 years old.✨142 days sober,” she captioned an Instagram post on September 16. “Extremely happy to be here.”
Prior to his death, James wrote music for several notable names in the music industry, including Taylor Swift, Jessica Simpson, Kelly Clarkson, Bon Jovi and the Backstreet Boys. He worked closely with Underwood who remembered James in a social media tribute.
“Some things are just unfathomable. The loss of Brett James to his family, friends and our music community is too great to put into words,” she shared on September 19. “Brett was the epitome of ‘cool.’ I see him in my mind riding up to my cabins to write on his motorcycle [and] his hair somehow perfectly coiffed despite being under a helmet for however long.”
Underwood’s caption continued with specific memories of her and James.
“I always loved hearing him sing ‘Cowboy Casanova’ because a sassy girl anthem should’ve sounded ridiculous coming from a macho dude like him, but somehow, he even made that cool,” she continued. “He was a good guy. I remember writing with him on a song that he basically wrote 75 percent of and had ready when he walked in the room.
Underwood added, “We filled in the blanks and added a little melody and I told him after that I didn’t feel right splitting the credit evenly when he did most of the work. He wouldn’t have it. He insisted that everything be equal.”
Her tribute also remembered James as someone who “loved the Lord” as her caption concluded.
“We even had the pleasure of singing together at church,” she shared. “My favorite songs to sing of ours are the ones that he or we wrote about Jesus because the thoughts and feelings behind them are so genuine and pure. I won’t ever sing one note of them again without thinking of him.”

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Castel Malawi Limited has deepened its drive to foster employee well-being and strengthen workplace harmony, following the successful Castel Malawi Workers Union (Camawu) Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Salima over the weekend.
Addressing Camawu members, Castel Malawi Human Resources and Corporate Affairs Director, Gloria Zimba, stressed that the company values a strong, independent workers union as an essential partner in promoting a healthy and productive working environment.
“We believe that an organization with an empowered union and employees who freely express themselves is better positioned to thrive.
“The annual general meeting provides a space for reflection, review, and planning, ensuring that employees and management continue moving forward together,’’ said Zimba.
Zimba highlighted several milestones achieved since the last AGM, particularly in the area of employee welfare and work-life balance.
Among the developments, Castel Malawi has established social welfare teams, including football and netball clubs in Blantyre, Lilongwe, and Mzuzu, to promote unity and well-being among staff.
Recognizing the importance of inclusivity, Castel Malawi has improved facilities for casual employees, including new restrooms, changing areas, and designated break spaces, ensuring that all workers enjoy dignity and comfort regardless of employment status.
“Casual workers deserve to be treated with the same respect as permanent employees. We are proud of the progress we have made in providing them with proper amenities and spaces,” said Zimba.
From a business perspective, Castel Malawi continues to demonstrate strong market performance as it was recognized by the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), the second-highest taxpayer in Malawi last year.
Zimba attributed the achievement to increased demand for Castel products, driven by the successful rebranding of Kuchekuche and the introduction of Sapitwa beer, both of which have injected new energy into the Castel brand.
“These brands have captured the excitement of Malawian consumers, and we are proud to see that some of our products are now crossing borders into Mozambique and Zambia,” added Zimba.
Camawu President, Ruben Kapito commended the collaborative spirit between management and employees.
“Productivity has been high, and this shows that things are moving in the right direction. Castel Malawi is not only performing well in the market but also ensuring that employee concerns are heard,” said Kapito.
