Jennifer Lopez Regrets Turning Down an Oscar-Nominated Role: ‘It Haunts Me’

Jennifer Lopez is sharing her biggest acting regret — turning down a movie that earned another actress an Oscar nomination.

“[Director] Adrian Lyne offered me Unfaithful,” Lopez told Howard Stern in an interview on Wednesday, October 15, referring to the 2002 erotic thriller starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane.

Lopez, 56, said she turned down the film because “the script wasn’t good” initially, adding that Lyne “then made it great.”

“And Diane Lane got nominated for the Oscar,” the actress and singer said with a laugh.

What Jennifer Lopez Has Said About Love and Romance

Stern, 71, asked Lopez, “Is that hard to live with?”

“It’s funny. It haunts me,” Lopez admitted. “It haunts me a little bit, because it’s, like, the one that I turned down. It was just like, ‘Why did you turn down working with Adrian Lyne? What were you thinking?’ I don’t know what was going on in my mind at the time. Who knows what was going on with me at the time?”

Lane, 60, earned critical acclaim for her portrayal of Constance “Connie” Sumner, who cheats on her husband, Edward Sumner, played by Gere. Lane received a Best Actress nomination at the 2003 Academy Awards, however, she lost the Oscar to Nicole Kidman for her role as Virginia Woolf in The Hours. Salma Hayek, Julianne Moore and Renée Zellweger were also nominated that year.

Despite missing out on Unfaithful, Lopez would go on to work with Gere in the 2004 musical comedy Shall We Dance?

Jennifer Lopez’s Dating History: A Timeline of Her Famous Relationships

Lopez also candidly opened up about her love life during her Wednesday appearance on SiriusXM’s Howard Stern Show.

“Do you think you’ve truly been loved?” Stern asked the star.

After pausing to consider her answer, Lopez replied, “No.”

“What I learned, it’s not that I’m not lovable — it’s that they’re not capable. … They don’t have it in them,” she explained. “And they gave me what they had. They gave me all of it, every time. All the rings, all the things I could ever want. The houses, the rings, the marriage. All of it.”

Lopez admitted she “didn’t love” herself, which complicated her four marriages, including her most recent union with Ben Affleck. (The couple finalized their divorce in January.)

“When I got divorced this last time, it was the best thing that ever happened to me,” Lopez said. “Because it really made me journey into — I mean, I had a religious coach, I had a therapist, a couples therapist, an individual therapist, I had a coach to understand addiction. I had everything. I was like, ‘I’m gonna fing figure this s out if it kills me.’”

Despite her split from Affleck, the actor and director recently supported Lopez at the New York City premiere of her new movie, Kiss of a Spider Woman, which was produced by his production company, Artists Equity.

“She’s fabulous. And it’s an enormously difficult — it’s all these masters, so it’s not edited in such a way where you can make a little mistake here and there in the dance,” Affleck praised Lopez on the red carpet in an interview with E! News. “It’s singing and dancing and acting and also trying to hold together these multiple tones in the movie. That’s just probably the maximum level of difficulty for a performer.”

ESCOM, MISA Malawi introduce annual Anti-Vandalism Media Award

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Limited has partnered with the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi Chapter to unveil a new media award aimed at fighting the growing problem of electricity infrastructure vandalism in the country.

The initiative, dubbed the ‘ESCOM Anti-Vandalism Media Award’, aims to encourage in-depth and solution-oriented journalism on the effects of infrastructure vandalism on Malawi’s economic growth and public safety.

Set to begin on November 1 this year, the award will recognize outstanding reporting in Print, Electronic, and Online Media categories.

Each winner will walk away with a cash prize of K1 million, a move designed to both reward excellence and inspire sustained coverage of this pressing issue.

Speaking during the launch, Pilirani Phiri, ESCOM’s Chief Public Relations and Communications Officer, said the award showcases the corporation’s commitment to addressing vandalism through collaboration with the media.

“Vandalism of ESCOM infrastructure is not just a commercial challenge for us; it is a direct attack on Malawi’s future, causing blackouts that stall economic activity and disrupt critical services. This award is a powerful statement of our commitment to fighting this scourge and strengthening media partnerships as a foundation for national progress,” said Phiri.

Echoing the sentiment, Golden Matonga, Chairperson of MISA Malawi, hailed the partnership as a timely and strategic collaboration that empowers journalists to use their platforms for the public good.

“We are delighted to partner with ESCOM on this vital public interest initiative. The award recognizes the media’s indispensable role in public sensitization and accountability. It is a meaningful incentive for journalists to dedicate their skills to a subject of such national importance,’’ said Matonga.

According to the organizers, eligible stories will include those published or broadcast between November 1, 2025, and April 30, 2026.

Winners are set to be honoured during the annual MISA Malawi Media Awards ceremony in May 2026.

Both ESCOM and MISA Malawi have called on journalists and media houses across the country to take advantage of the competition period to explore and expose the root causes, consequences, and possible solutions to infrastructure vandalism.

FCB, Umodzi Park partner to celebrate and empower women

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-First Capital Bank (FCB) says is it committed to empowering women in Malawi by supporting initiatives that promote their health and business growth, which are key areas that significantly impact women’s lives and development.

The Bank’s position was made clear during a High Tea Party event in Lilongwe on Wednesday, held in partnership with Umodzi Park to celebrate Mother’s Day, under the theme ‘Empowering Women in Business and Health’.

Speaking during the event, FCB Corporate Communications Manager, Memory Mwathengere, said the Bank remains committed to supporting initiatives that uplift women in different spheres of life.

“We were very delighted with this year’s theme. As a Bank, we take these issues seriously because women today face numerous challenges that require both financial and emotional support. Partnering with Umodzi Park allowed us to celebrate women while also promoting their growth and wellbeing,” said Mwathengere.

One of the keynote speakers, a business coach and entrepreneur Chifundo Chiphanzi, encouraged women to focus on financial discipline and long-term sustainability in their businesses.

“We are encouraging women to plan before spending money in their businesses. Proper planning and prioritisation not only sustain a business but also create room for growth and legacy building,” she said.

On her part, Hlalapi Kunkeyani, a nurse at Kamuzu Central Hospital, highlighted the importance of women prioritising their health as a foundation for family and community wellbeing.

“A healthy mother is a strong mother. When a woman takes care of her health, she is able to care for her family, her community, and contribute meaningfully to the development of the nation,” she said.

The event served as both a celebration of motherhood and a platform for women from various sectors to discuss critical issues surrounding entrepreneurship and women’s health.

“The Bravo-verse will kill me if I do not ask this next question,” Andy Cohen told Lopez, 56, during the Wednesday, October 15, edition of Watch What Happens Live, explaining, “It came up at a Southern Charm reunion a few years ago … that your ex, A-Rod, was DMing one of the cast members.”

The host added, “And there was a lot of speculation in the press or on the show that that somehow led to your breakup. Is there anything you can speak to about that?”

Lopez took a beat, then replied, “You know, I really have nothing to say about my personal life anymore. I feel like I’m done with that.”

Lopez and Rodriguez, 50, began dating in 2017 and got engaged two years later. They broke off their engagement in April 2021, announcing that they realized they’re “better as friends.”

Several weeks prior, reports circulated that the entertainer and the athlete had called it quits over messages he was allegedly sending to LeCroy, 35, who stars on Southern Charm. Lopez and Rodriguez initially denied the split rumors, and a source close to Rodriguez told Us Weekly that he’d “never met” LeCroy.

In 2023, the hairstylist claimed that she thought she was being “catfished” when the former MLB player contacted her. She recalled during an episode of the “Pillows and Beer” podcast, “The dude who’s dating [Lopez] is not in my DMs right now.”

LeCroy’s ex-boyfriend, Austen Kroll, who hosts the podcast, claimed that Rodriguez “kept on FaceTiming you ad nauseam. You were like, ‘This motherf*****’s FaceTimed me three or four times today.’ And then he, like, got mad at Madison because she didn’t answer when she was on the boat or something. And she was like, ‘I’m not at your beck and call.’”

LeCroy did not deny Kroll’s story, saying, “I told [Alex], I said, ‘If you’re looking for a side chick, which clearly he was, it wasn’t gonna be me.’ “I’m wifey material.”

At the time, Rodriguez’s rep, Ron Berkowitz, issued a denial to Entertainment Tonight

Britney Spears Accuses Kevin Federline of ‘Gaslighting’ Her

Britney Spears is accusing ex-husband Kevin Federline of “gaslighting” her ahead of the release of his memoir.

Spears, 43, shared her feelings via X on Wednesday, October 15, writing, “The constant gaslighting from ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting. I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys.”

She added, “Relationships with teenage boys is complex. I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life.”

The legendary pop star’s comments came after Federline, 47, defended the upcoming publication of his tell-all, You Thought You Knew, which details their 2004 marriage and divorce three years later. The exes share two sons, Preston, 20, and Jayden, 19. In the book, Federline claims that Spears mixed wine and prescription medication while pregnant and snorted cocaine when she was breast-feeding their children.

Kevin Federline Responds to Britney Spears’ Clapback About His New Book

“Sadly, they have always witnessed the lack of respect shown by [their] own father for me,” Spears wrote in her X post. “They need to take responsibility for themselves. With one son only seeing me for 45 min in the past 5 years and the other with only 4 visits in the past 5 years. I have pride too. From now on I will let them know when I am available.”

Spears continued: “Trust me, those white lies in that book, they are going straight to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here. I will always love them and if you really know me, you won’t pay attention to the tabloids of my mental health and drinking. I am actually a pretty intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life the past 5 years. I speak on this because I have had enough and any real woman [would] do the same.”

On Tuesday, October 14, Spears released a statement after various publications released excerpts from Federline’s book, which will be officially released next week.

“With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her, and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin,” Spears’ rep told Us Weekly at the time. “All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir.”

Britney Spears Claps Back at ‘Sensationalism’ in Ex Kevin Federline’s Book

In 2023, Spears published her own memoir, The Woman in Me, in which she chronicled her music career, her 13-year conservatorship and her romances with Federline and Justin Timberlake

Federline responded to her team’s statement in an exclusive interview with Us on Wednesday, insisting, “Money’s not the root of this thing. I feel like, if she has the right to tell her story, why don’t I?”

He said he “couldn’t even remember the last conversation” he had with Spears, and wished her the best.

“All I really want is for her to be able to have a wonderful relationship with her children,” he told Us. “I want her to be happy, healthy and all of the things. I want nothing but greatness for her.”

Theft galore rocks horns at Malawi Institute of Education as MK140m vanishes

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-A criminal cartel has rocked horns at Malawi Institute of Education (MIE) as MK140 million is reportedly stolen in stealing financing former governing Malawi Congress Party (MCP) campaigns during the last 16 September General Elections.

According to insiders, the criminal cartel of Frank Mtemang’ombe (Executive Director), Austin Kalambo (Director) and Humphreys Bell (Finance Officer) have systematically siphoned over MK140 million to finance the ousted MCP.

The three have been paying for meeting activities that don’t exist using Mthunzi Lodge which belongs to Kalambo in Liwonde.

During the campaign, they paid MK40 million to Kalambo’s lodge for a meeting that never happened.

Immediately after voting when it was clear MCP was losing, Mtemang’ombe took MK100 million “to fund MCP legal battles”.

In an attempt to cover their criminal footprints, Mtemang’ombe, Kalambo and Bell want to pay an exaggerated K110,000 million to Kalambo’s lodge just for a meeting.

In reality, the current meeting will cost K70 million (already exaggerated) but they will also get another receipt of the first K40,000 whose meeting never happened.

This means the MK100 million which they funded “MCP legal battles” has evaporated even after getting a false receipt for the other stolen MK40 million.

More money is stolen than what is discovered. The three bosses have been known to secretly cash bank cheques themselves without involvement of accounts officers, sometimes being sent away by the banks.

Mtemang’ombe reported to MIE without a proper letter of appointment. Bell was kicked out of Malawi Police for financial misconduct. He was also fired from MIE financial misconduct but was bulldozed back into MIE when MCP came in power.

Austin Kalambo is a known MCP youth leaguer who has been insulting President Mutharika on Facebook. His wife stood as an MCP candidate in Mitundu, Lilongwe.

This has failed to get feedback from the trio on several attempts through their mobile phones as we went to press.
