TUNIS-(MaraviPost)-Flames head coach Kalisto Pasuwa has urged his players to stay focused and avoid underestimating Sao Tome and Principe as Malawi prepares for their final match in Group H qualifier of the FIFA World Cup preliminary stage in Tunisia on October 13, 2025.

Speaking to journalists after a training session in Tunisia, Pasuwa emphasized that despite beating Sao Tome 3-1 in the first leg at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, the Flames cannot afford to relax in the return match.

“This is not the time to be overconfident. Every match is different and we must approach this game with seriousness and discipline,” said Pasuwa.

The Zimbabwean tactician noted that a win against Sao Tome would significantly boost Malawi’s hopes of advancing to the next phase of the qualifiers, stressing that his squad understands what is at stake.

“The boys know how important this match is. A win will keep our dream alive, and everyone is determined to give their best performance,” he added.

However, the Flames will be without two key players midfielder Patrick Mwaungulu, who has been sidelined by malaria, and striker Frank Gabadinho Mhango, who is suspended after accumulating two yellow cards.

Despite these setbacks, Pasuwa remains optimistic, highlighting the depth and unity within his squad.

He hinted that youngsters like Mayele Malango and Chawanangwa Kaonga could step up to fill the gaps left by the absentees.

“We have talented players ready to take responsibility. Football is about teamwork and everyone knows their role,” Pasuwa remarked confidently.

The Flames, who currently sit on 13 points from nine games, are looking to finish their campaign on a high note. Their form in recent matches has impressed fans, with the team showing better coordination and fighting spirit.

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has officially nominated Hon. Sameer Suleman, a Member of Parliament, as its candidate for the upcoming election of the Speaker of the National Assembly. The election is scheduled for October 29, 2025.

The appointment, made in accordance with the party’s constitution, underscores the confidence of the party leadership in Suleman’s ability to lead the National Assembly effectively.

According to a statement signed by Peter Mukhito, Secretary General of the DPP, securing the Speaker’s seat is crucial for advancing the legislative agenda of the ruling party and ensuring stable and effective governance in line with national priorities.

The party leadership has urged all DPP Members of Parliament and alliance partners to rally behind Suleman, emphasizing the importance of unity in securing the Speaker’s position for the ruling party.

“Your solidarity and active participation are essential to safeguarding our collective mandate and facilitating smooth parliamentary proceedings,” the statement reads in part.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Mayci Neeley quickly learned how to best discuss the birds and the bees with her 10-year-old son, Hudson.

“He just found out what sex is, like, he’s at that age,” Mayci, 30, said on the Sunday, October 12, episode of the “Sunday Sports Club” podcast. “We had to give him the talk, and I’m like, ‘You are not reading [my] book [until you’re 18].’”

Mayci found out she was pregnant with Hudson at just 19 years old, shortly before her ex-boyfriend and Hudson’s birth father, Arik Mack, died in a car accident. Mayci later married Jacob Neeley, who eventually adopted Hudson. (Mayci and Jacob also share two daughters.)

“When we gave him the sex talk, the thing that he was so upset about was that, ‘I came from a different dad ‘cause you had sex with someone else,’” the MomTok influencer recalled of Hudson’s response. “He found that out, and he was so stunned. He asked my husband, ‘Why did you marry her?’”

According to Mayci, she and Jacob, 30, only gave Hudson the “basic” sex talk.

“He had the basic one, where it’s, like, ‘You have sex to make a baby.’ So, he realized, ‘That’s how I was made,’” she told podcast host Allison Kuch. “Then, he was like, ‘Dad, why did you marry her [if] she did that and had a baby.’ [Kids have] no filter [and] no shame.”

Mayci detailed more of her story in her recently released memoir, Told You So, including how she navigated Arik’s death amid her pregnancy.

“It was the hardest thing in my entire life. The grieving process was so intense,” Mayci exclusively told Us Weekly earlier in October. “There were so many things I wish I would have said, so many regrets of what I said before he passed and so many things I wish I could say or ask him about now. It’s given me a lot of anxiety in my current life. If my husband doesn’t respond within a certain amount of time. I’m like, ‘Did he get in a crash? Are my kids OK?’ I get so freaked out.”

She continued, “I was so, so depressed. … I never thought of really doing anything to hurt myself because I knew it would crush my family — and having my baby in my belly. I knew it wasn’t an option.”

Mayci also told Us how growing up a member of the Mormon church affected her pregnancy overall.

“Those are definitely against the guidelines in the church. I did feel a lot of guilt because we’re taught that sex outside of marriage is like a sin next to murder,” she said. “It’s all the shame and guilt you feel from your upbringing. Then I got into a really religious space once my son’s father passed away because I had to make sense of it.”

Mayci further explained why she chose to “turn toward” religion even more in light of Arik’s death.

“I chose to turn toward it because I needed it to make sense. As far as now goes, I feel like I’m somewhat in the middle,” the reality TV star said of her relationship with the Church of Latter-Day Saints. “I’ve always been someone who’s kind of in the middle. The things that I focus on — at least in my religion — is my relationship with God and being a good person. That is what matters, and making sure my kids feel love and become good people too.”

Years later, Russ decides he wants to give college football another try. To do so, he’s assumed a fake identity as Chad Powers and even applied prosthetics to his face and nose. Russ is going to have a lot of trouble maintaining his cover as Chad, and even greater difficulties trying to keep up with college athletes who are younger and stronger than he is.

Chad Powers is streaming on Hulu.

4. ‘All’s Fair’ (2025)

Ryan Murphy‘s new legal drama is getting a lot of attention because it’s placing Kim Kardashian as the lead in her own show. Whether Kardashian can carry the series remains to be seen, but she’ll have a lot of help from her A-list costars, including Naomi Watts, Sarah Paulson, Niecy Nash, Teyana Taylor and Glenn Close.

Jason Clarke and Patricia Arquette play Alex and Maggie Murdaugh, a powerful couple whose life of wealth and privilege is built on a house of cards. That house starts crumbling down when their son, Paul Murdaugh (Johnny Berchtold), is involved in a deadly accident that invites wider scrutiny of the family. Alex will do anything to protect the family’s secrets, or more accurately, his own secrets. And the story only gets wilder from there.

Some supernatural force has locked Miles and Kiara inside their house, and nothing they try seems to get them any closer to escape. It’s as if they’re invisible to people standing outside of their home as they shout for help. But the only people who can get Kiara and Miles out of their personal Hell are each other. And that’s going to take some work.

Netflix’s Boots introduced viewers to a group of aspiring Marine recruits who endure severe physical challenges, emotional pitfalls and even a surprise death — but how did the season end?

The show, which premiered on Thursday, October 9, follows Cameron (Miles Heizer) as he joins the American military alongside his best friend Ray (Liam Oh) during the 1990s. Cameron has to hide his sexuality while trying to make it through basic training alongside Slovacek (Kieron Moore), Hicks (Angus O’Brien), Nash (Dominic Goodman), John (Blake Burt), Cody (Brandon Tyler Moore) and Ochoa (Johnathan Nieves).

The recruits make progress when suddenly Ochoa dies after he called home and found out his wife was having an affair. The stress caused Ochoa to act out and a confrontation with Sergeant Howitt (Nicholas Logan) led to the teenager triggering a heart condition that ended his life.

O’Brien spoke with Us Weekly about the shocking twist.

Which TV Shows Have Received Very Early — And Surprise — Renewals in 2025

“That was a very big turning point in the show. It’s a huge tragedy in a lot of ways. And it really challenges and cements a lot of the relationships that are being tested and the relationships that are being formed in the show,” he noted. “For a lot of the guys, it’s an eye opening moment. They realize this is real and isn’t a joke anymore.”

While breaking down the emotional moment, O’Brien reflected on how it affected his character, adding, “Hicks was looking for a thrill or looking for excitement or entertainment. In that moment, there’s these beautiful things that happen with tragedy sometimes where you get to see how people show up for each other and comfort each other. I don’t know that Hicks was ever necessarily the type to value that kind of behavior. But for whatever reason at boot camp, it shifts something in him.”

O’Brien continued: “There is a deeper mutual respect that all the recruits share after that moment. Speaking for myself, I would say that’s something that’s added to Hicks after that moment is just that not everything has to be a joke, even though it’s fun when a lot of things are a joke.”

During the show’s first season, an overarching story line features Cameron existing as a gay man in the military. This served as a parallel to Sergeant Sullivan (Max Parker), who pushed Cameron to keep that aspect of himself hidden because Sullivan was in a similar position as a closeted man in the army.

O’Brien discussed the way Boots creates a conversation about authenticity.

“The experience of shooting the show was a reminder to me that no matter how different we might think we are from someone, ultimately we want the same things. We want to be happy, we want to be respected and we want to live a life that’s fulfilled,” he noted. “What’s so beautiful about the show is that you have all these guys from very different walks of life who wouldn’t necessarily think to depend on each other. Because of the situation that they’re in, they’re forced to rely on each other and they realize through that how powerful it is to depend on someone who has lived a different life than you — and how many lessons there are to learn from that.”

The actor is hopeful that viewers take that message away from the show, saying, “There are people to depend on and to rely on in all different walks of life. Don’t count someone out just because you think they’re not going to support you. They might. They want the same things you do.”

By the time Boots comes to an end, all of the remaining recruits pass training and are ready to serve. The last scene shows the group celebrating their success before getting distracted by news coverage of an ongoing invasion that reminds them of what comes next — actual military service.

Moore, who opened up about bringing the show’s misunderstood antagonist, didn’t rule out another season, telling Us, “I think we only scratch the surface for Slovacek ahead of season 2. If we get to go again, it’d be a really wonderful story to explore him a little bit more. I’m just hoping that audience members are curious about him.”

He continued: “All of the characters are remarkable but I know that for me and people around me, everyone knows the Slovacek that doesn’t really get the time to become something. I think he’s a very representative of a lot of young men out there that just need some guidance. They’ve got a skill and abundance, passion and abundance.

Elsbeth returns for its third season with a cameo from Stephen Colbert — which almost didn’t happen.

During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, star Carrie Preston previewed the premiere, which was filmed shortly after Colbert’s The Late Show was controversially canceled.

“It was really serendipitous because for months and months we had been working to get these actors on the show. [Executive producer] Jonathan Tolins wrote the script specifically for Stephen Colbert,” Preston, 58, recalled. “Then the week before we were about to start filming, it was announced that his show was done.”

While Colbert, 61, figured out his next steps, the show’s creative time was “very nervous,” with Preston adding, “We were concerned that he was going to be too busy dealing with that and he wouldn’t be able to come. But he came and not only did he come but he came fully prepared. He was fully game and so happy to be there.”

Preston praised Colbert’s attitude while on set.

“He was such a great actor. He was so fun to play with and it was everything that you wanted it to be and more,” she continued. “I was a huge fan of Amy Sedaris for so long. I had only just met her socially once or twice. So to have her on the show, she was so funny and the crew loved her. I was basically begging her to be my friend by the end. I just think she’s fantastic.”

Preston continued: “And then Andy Richter too. He’s playing a sidekick on a talk show but he was the sidekick on the talk show forever [with Late Night, The Tonight Show and Conan]. But they’re all different characters. I just thought it was really brilliant and that the timing worked out so well that they were all available to come and play with us.”

The season 3 premiere, which airs Sunday, October 12, follows Elsbeth as she investigates tensions in the world of late-night comedy between a talk show host (Colbert), his head writer (Sedaris) and her husband (Richter).

Sunday’s episode also introduces new officer Grace Hackett (Lindsay Mendez), who is one of several police officers Elsbeth will work with after Kaya (Carra Patterson) left for an undercover opportunity.

“[This season] it works so well with the detectives. But with every case that Elsbeth goes on, it is not going to be the same detective every time. So we already had that set up with different detectives stepping in and now we’re doing the same thing with the uniformed officers,” Preston explained. “She’ll click with people in different ways.”

Preston enjoyed the shakeup three seasons into the hit CBS show.

“It keeps the show fresh and it keeps Elsbeth on her game more. She’s working with newer people, younger people and people that she hasn’t met before. So she’s getting to know people,” she noted. “I don’t know if we will ever land on just one. Anything can happen. But I really love the new people that we are working with now.”

Elsbeth season 3 premieres on CBS Sunday, October 12, at 9:30 p.m. ET. New episodes stream the next day on Paramount+.
