BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The highly anticipated TNM Super League clash between Mighty Wanderers and Ekhaya FC ended abruptly on Wednesday afternoon after heavy rains rendered the Kamuzu Stadium pitch unplayable.
The game, which had attracted few of passionate supporters from both sides, was called off in the 51st minute following a torrential downpour that flooded large parts of the pitch.
At the time of abandonment, neither side had managed to break the deadlock with the scoreline standing at 0–0.
The match officials initially halted play temporarily to assess the situation, hoping the rain would subside.
However, after a prolonged delay and worsening pitch conditions, referee Honest Maulana was left with no choice but to officially stop the match.
Following the decision, officials from the Super League of Malawi (SULOM), the match commissioner and representatives from both teams held an emergency meeting to determine the next course of action.
The discussion reportedly centered on player safety, pitch condition and possible rescheduling options.
The match becomes the first fixture of the 2025 TNM Super League season to be abandoned due to weather-related issues.
Fans expressed disappointment but acknowledged that the safety of players and officials must come first.
As of Wednesday evening, SULOM had not yet released an official statement on when or how the match will be concluded.
The abandoned match has sparked debate among fans about the state of football infrastructure in Malawi with many calling for improved drainage systems at stadiums to avoid similar disruptions in the future.
LILONGWE-(Maravipost)- The Malawi Paralympic Committee (MPC) has announced plans to introduce vocational training for para-athletes under the Before Sports, After Sports program.
The initiative was unveiled last Friday at Malingunde School for the Blind in Lilongwe by the organization’s Treasurer, Joseph Galanje, during the commemoration of Paralympic Month.
Galanje explained that the initiative will help athletes earn a decent living after their sports careers end.
“We have launched the Before Sports and After Sports initiative because we want to see how best we can assist a person with disability before they become an active player or athlete.
“We are also looking at outcomes after they have been active for some time so that they don’t struggle. We will be providing vocational training so they can learn a trade,” Galanje said.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sports Council Development Officer Fanny Phiri, who was the guest of honour, praised the organization’s leadership for introducing the initiative, which will have a positive impact on para-athletes.
“The initiative is a great idea. You are taking care of para-athletes at the grassroots level when they are very young, and also ensuring their welfare after sports. This is one way of encouraging boys and girls to take sports seriously, knowing they will be well taken care of.
“Let me also commend you for these celebrations where you are promoting inclusive sports. We will always support you,” Phiri stated.
The para-athletics celebrations featured sports activities involving both children with disabilities and able-bodied learners.

“The show has definitely been on my radar because I got to read the pilot and audition. I immediately loved it,” Canning, 38, exclusively told Us Weekly about her appearance in the Tuesday, November 4, episode of the Fox series. “A good friend of mine was in the pilot and the nice thing about being in the industry is having gotten to know a lot of actors really well. I get to see a lot of them in shows that are shot locally. So it was pretty cool to get to join for an episode.”
Based on novels written by L.R. Wright, Murder in a Small Town follows a police chief named Karl (Rossif Sutherland) who investigates mysterious murders with the help of a few others, including his girlfriend, Cassandra (Kristin Kreuk). The procedural format allows the show to feature celebrity cameos such as Canning’s, who played Mackenzie in Tuesday’s episode.
“Kristin is such an incredible actor and it’s so beautiful to watch the chemistry between her and Rossif [Sutherland]. It was really special to get to come aboard,” she shared about her role.
Canning’s character is originally introduced as someone who organizes a memorial after the death of her sister. The event went awry after a bear attack, but it was ultimately revealed that Mackenzie planned to kill someone during the memorial to avenge her sister’s death.

“It’s really interesting playing a character who is in the middle of such a traumatic event and processing so much grief. It is about living in the reality of the trauma of the event of the bear attack,” she told Us. “To have all of these scenes in a hospital bed, you have to try to differentiate between where she’s at in processing what’s happened and suddenly feeling like she’s being investigated.”
“The great thing about playing Mackenzie is that we get to meet her in a pretty honest state. This horrible thing has happened and it’s affected her in a very real way — despite the plotting that she was up to. I loved that about this character, this reveal,” she teased. “These particular mystery shows are really good at giving us a character that contains multitudes. We get to meet Mackenzie in a very real state of trauma. It’s all the more interesting as it unravels into what the premeditative nature of this whole thing was and how she’s left now to pick up the pieces while being trapped in a hospital.”
Playing Mackenzie allowed Canning to push herself as an actress. “I love murder mystery shows. I’ve just started watching Task, which I’ve only watched the first episode of but I love shows that exist in that tone,” she said before teasing what’s next. “Then I have Virgin River, where I have a pretty significant arc in season 7 of that show, which was really exciting. And I did a film with long time pal Daniel Gillies from The Vampire Diaries as well called Shaman.”
Murder in a Small Town airs on Fox Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
“This is NOT what was said,” Chrishell, 44, wrote via her Instagram Story on Tuesday, November 4, referring to Emma’s claims regarding Blake and his alleged remarks about Chrishell’s partner, G Flip.
Chrishell quipped, “But good job Emma in flaming the hate for my partner and their preferred pronoun use.”
Chrishell’s remarks are directly related to Emma’s exclusive interview with Us Weekly, in which she claimed that Blake “did not say that pronouns were dumb” during a past conversation with Chrishell about G Flip, who is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns.
“He accidentally said ‘wife’ [about G Flip]. When he said ‘wife,’ I told him and I explained it, and it was the first time he was learning about it and he was trying to be good,” Emma, 33, told Us on Tuesday. “This was also two years ago. This wasn’t like a recent thing. This was two years ago and I corrected him, because I knew I wanted to be sensitive.”
Emma explained, “I’m super sensitive about the situation, so I corrected him and he said, ‘Oh, my bad. We’re from the south and we don’t really do it there.’ That’s exactly what was said.”

Emma noted that Blake’s alleged misuse of “wife” is what caused tension between her boyfriend and Chrishell while simultaneously adding to her own, preexisting issues with Chrishell. (Chrishell has been vocal about not approving of Emma dating Blake.)
“It rubbed Chrishell the wrong way, and she’s protective of G and she’s an amazing person, so I don’t blame her for that,” Emma told Us of Chrishell’s reaction. “But he didn’t mean anything by it. He did not say pronouns are dumb or [were] stupid. I was right there.”
Once Emma’s video interview was published via social media on Tuesday, Chrishell fired back, claiming Emma didn’t tell the full story. She also defended her own approach to correcting people over G Flip’s pronouns.
“I have never gotten mad if someone politely got G’s pronouns wrong. It happens all the time and I gently correct and we move on,” Chrishell wrote via social media.
Chrishell revealed she planned to “wait and see what airs” during the season 9 reunion of Selling Sunset before “fully responding” to Emma’s remarks. (Season 9 dropped on Netflix Wednesday, October 28.)
Chrishell, for her part, previously claimed that Blake used a racial slur and made other “extremely problematic” comments regarding her partner. She told Variety on Friday, October 31, that Blake once compared “people being nonbinary to mental illness,” noting that he was “being nice” during the chat, but that his comment was offensive.

At the time, Chrishell told the outlet that her issues with Blake “goes so much more than what you’re able to see on a show that they’re trying as hard as they can to keep it light and upbeat.”
However, she claimed via her Instagram Story on Tuesday that Blake’s “hateful posts on his IG Story against the LGBTQ community speak volumes on who to believe,” pointing to recent messages he’s shared since filming wrapped.
Chrishell then shared examples of why she doesn’t think Blake should be trusted, including a TikTok of him shoving Emma’s face into his crotch with the caption that read, “When your girl asks what’s for dinner.”
“But sure, believe this man if you want,” Chrishell wrote alongside the controversial video. “The internet will look for a way to fill its narrative about you so I’m [excited] to be done with all of this very soon.”
She proceeded to point out Blake’s alleged misogyny and offensive takes on women, minorities and different racial groups via her Instagram Stories.
“I’ll let his words speak for themselves since it is now my word against theirs,” Chrishell wrote alongside two of Blake’s past IG Stories in which he wondered, “Why do they have a fat Barbie?” after seeing a doll in the store.

Blake also pondered why there was a “cripple Barbie” before joking, “Next we’re gonna have Barbie with a beard.”
“Please use your best judgement here,” Chrishell asked her followers on Tuesday, sharing more racially charged posts Blake previously shared as well as negative uploads about the transgender community.
Before Chrishell clapped back at Emma and Blake on social media, Emma told Us that she hoped the three of them could “have a conversation” in the future and move forward.
“It’s one of those things with their personalities where they just will never see eye to eye. They are on two ends of the spectrum in the sense where she doesn’t appreciate certain things that he does and he doesn’t appreciate certain things that she does. Unfortunately, I am in the middle,” Emma said on Tuesday. “There was a point where I loved them both so much. My ideal situation is for my best friend and my boyfriend to love each other. It was the hardest on me because it was really difficult to watch. I didn’t want to make a choice because I really wanted it to work with both.”

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Parliament has commenced the First Meeting in the 52nd Session of Parliament, which serves as the 2025/2026 Mid-Year Budget Review Meeting.
The Meeting follows the official opening of the 52nd Session by President Arthur Peter Mutharika on Friday, 31st October 2025, at the Parliament Building in Lilongwe.
Speaker of Parliament, Right Honourable Sameer Suleman, informed the House that the Meeting will run for five weeks, from 5th November to 5th December 2025.
During his address, the Speaker also announced the leadership of the House as submitted by various political parties.
For the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), the leadership comprises Jappie Mhango as Leader of the House, Patricia Wiskes as Chief Whip, and Martha Ngwira Munthali as Deputy Whip.
For the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), Simplex Chithyola Banda will serve as Leader of Opposition, with Moses Kunkuyu as Whip and Monica Chang’anamuno as Deputy Whip.
From the United Transformation Movement (UTM), the team includes Dr. Patricia Kaliati as Leader of UTM in the House, Edgar Kapalamula as Deputy Leader of UTM in the House, Felix Njawala as Whip, and Kenneth Ndovie as Deputy Whip.
The United Democratic Front (UDF) has Hon. Aisha Mambo Adams as Leader of UDF in the House, Ismail Rizzq Mkumba as Whip, and Tulinje Muluzi as Deputy Whip.
On the leader of opposition, Speaker Suleman further announced that, in accordance with Standing Order 35, Hon. Simplex Chithyola Banda for Kasungu South, is officially recognised as Leader of the Opposition.
Presenting resolutions of the Business Committee, the Speaker outlined the parliamentary programme for the five-week Meeting.
Debate on the President’s Address will take place from 5th to 14th November 2025.
He encouraged new Members to use this period to deliver their maiden speeches.
The Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development is scheduled to deliver the 2025/2026 Mid-Year Budget Review Statement on Friday, 21st November, followed by debate from 24th to 28th November 2025.
The House will then proceed to the Committee of Supply from 1st to 3rd December, to scrutinize and adopt revised budget estimates before adjournment sine die on 5th December, 2025.
Meanwhile, Members of Parliament have started debating the Presidential address that President Peter Mutharika made on Friday.
