Netflix’s New Movies and TV Shows in September 2025: ‘House of Guinness’ and More

‘Wayward’ Season 1

When an expecting couple moves to the town of Tall Pines to start their family, they quickly realize that things are not quite what they seem in the sleepy little community. In particular, the local academy for troubled teens and its charismatic leader, Evelyn Wade (Toni Collette), begins to raise some suspicion when one such wayward child attempts to make their escape. Police officer Alex (Mae Martin) teams up with two teens to uncover the secrets of the Tall Pines Academy and the town itself.

Wayward is Netflix’s new chilling limited series that really packs a narrative punch, keeping you hooked until, before you know it, you’ve already barreled through all eight episodes. Collette shines as the persuasive and overly friendly Wade, a woman who is more like a cult leader than a head teacher. The series has been praised for its eerie atmosphere, impressive performances and mysteries that keep you hooked.

‘All of You ‘(2025)

This romantic drama stars Imogen Poots and Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso) as two college best friends who find their friendship tested by a newfangled system that pairs up soulmates. A weepy tearjerker with a gripping sci-fi angle, the film has been praised for the memorable chemistry between its leads and a sharp script (cowritten by Goldstein) that elevates material which might be made more rote in the wrong hands. Across the board, however, it’s clear — All of You is sure to leave you a puddle of tears.

The narrative follows Simon (Goldstein) and Laura (Poots) as they find themselves at odds with a test that purports to scientifically match people with their one true love. When Laura is matched up with another man who isn’t Simon, it sets in motion an emotionally devastating sequence of events that changes the course of both their lives. Though it’s hard to argue with science, Simon and Laura feel compelled to question whether they made the right choices.

Stream All of You now on Apple TV+.

‘Hotel Costiera’ Season 1

Starring Grey’s Anatomy’s Jesse WilliamsHotel Costiera follows Williams’ character Daniel “DD” De Luca, a former Marine who travels to Positano, Italy, to work as a fixer at a luxury hotel. His job requires that he clean up the messes and solve problems for the wealthy elite who stay there, a job that seems cushy but has its own host of difficulties. But things become far more troubled for De Luca when the owner’s daughter disappears, and it is suddenly up to him to find her.

That might sound like the premise for an exciting crime thriller, but the draw of Hotel Costiera is that it goes down easy. Though things may be difficult for De Luca, his show is a relaxing, breezy slice of mystery-comedy, and with only six episodes in this first season, it’ll be hard for you not to blow through them all in one sitting. For fans of cozy crime capers, you should be sure to snuggle up with Hotel Costiera.

Stream Hotel Costiera now on Amazon Prime Video.

‘Knock at the Cabin’ (2023)

From horror maestro M. Night Shyamalan comes a claustrophobic thriller of apocalyptic proportions, when a group of seemingly unconnected strangers crash an idyllic family vacation by purporting to be harbingers of doom. Knock at the Cabin stars Dave Bautista, Rupert Grint and Jonathan Groff in a captivating, character-driven take on the end of the world. Upon release, critics praised Knock at the Cabin for its philosophical commentary, tense atmosphere, lush visuals and fantastic performances, particularly from Bautista.

When Eric (Groff) and Andrew (Ben Aldridge) take their daughter to a woodland getaway, they receive a visit from four mysterious interlopers. The menacing group takes the innocent family hostage and asks them to do one thing — the family must sacrifice one of their own to save the world. Scared and bewildered, the strangers attempt to convince the family of the impending apocalypse at stake, as time may or may not be running out.

Stream Knock at the Cabin now on Peacock.

‘House of Guinness’ Season 1

Imagine if Succession took place in the late 18th and early 19th century and focused on a beer-brewing dynasty instead of an international media conglomerate. Well, you might get something similar to House of Guinness, which takes a highly fictionalized look at the real family behind the world-renowned beer company. The series focuses on the four adult children of the Guinness family in the wake of the death of patriarch Benjamin, who passes away with no clear heir to the family fortune.

5 Movies and TV Shows You Need to Watch in September 2025 — ‘Task’ and More

This period drama from the minds behind Peaky Blinders is lax on the historical accuracy, but it makes up for it through compelling character drama and narrative intrigue. It’s entertaining watching the different family members showcase their different dynamics with one another, and the cast (which includes Jack Gleeson of Game of Thrones fame) is totally magnetic.

Abby Lee Miller Gets Called Out by Fans for Using ‘Aggressive’ Beauty Filter

Fans playfully put Dance Moms icon Abby Lee Miller on blast for using what appeared to be an “intense” beauty filter.

The dance coach, 60, went viral on TikTok for her picture-perfect face in a clip she shared via the social media platform on Sunday, September 28, while traveling to Iowa to lead a class.

In the video, Miller walked onto a plane with a flawless complexion, detailing her plans upon landing in Des Moines, Iowa, after boarding her flight in Chicago, Illinois.

“See you soon Iowa!!! ✈️ Limited tickets available for today’s events ~ yes, you can pay at the door! 👍🏼,” Miller captioned the post. Her followers were quick to poke fun at her ultra glamorous look in the comments section.

Fans Call Out Kris Jenner For Having 6 Toes in Alleged Photoshop Fail

“The filter is FRYING MEEE😭😭,” one wrote, which nearly 400,000 other social media users “liked.” Another commented, “The aggressive filter 😭,” while a third wrote, “I thought this was a random person with an Abby filter on.” More fans sarcastically called her a “filterless queen.”

Miller teamed her look with a black graphic T-shirt with her namesake company printed on the chest paired with black fitted pants and sparkling rings. Her brunette hair was parted to the side and styled in voluminous curls.

“Hello everyone, good morning! I am on a United [Airlines] flight headed from Chicago to Des Moines, Iowa, to teach all day today at Ocean Athletics,” she explained in the video.

Miller isn’t the only star who people have poked fun at for an alleged Photoshop fail. Kris Jenner was called out in August for appearing to have six toes while posing for a pic at her mom’s 91st birthday lunch.

“Does she have 6 toes are am I trippin?” one Instagram user pondered, while another quipped, “6 toe steppa.” A third social media user added, “6 Toes… WOW.” Other fans wondered if her foot only looked distorted because of the flesh-toned sandals she was wearing.

More Kardashian-Jenner family members have also been accused of heavily editing their social media posts. Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner fell victim in 2019 when they posed together in a KKW Fragrance collaboration. Kim’s rep then told Page Six that the sideways angle was to blame for the incident.

In July, Khloé Kardashian opened up about not altering her photos as frequently anymore while chatting on an episode of her “Khloé in Wonderland” podcast.

‘Fess Up! Every Time the Kardashians Admitted to Photoshopping Pics

“There was a time that I definitely did,” she admitted. “There was a time when I was around some people that would make me feel like I needed to. I also think it was the era, too. I felt like a lot of people were Photoshopping or heavily Photoshopping more than they do now.”

Khloé joked that she looked like a “cartoon character” when she heavily edited her photos. “I feel bad that I thought I needed to look like that. If I got paparazzied, I’d be like, ‘I don’t look like that. I look like this photo.’”

Khloé added, “I really had to reprogram my mind to be like, ‘OK, we have to lay off the filters. This isn’t real. That’s not how I look.’ And I don’t want to look like that. It was a strange time.”

Laken Snelling Passed Out on Top of Baby, Claims She Woke Up to Find It Dead

New chilling details about the arrest of former University of Kentucky competitive cheerleader Laken Snelling have emerged.

Snelling, 21, told medical staff she guessed her baby was still alive when she gave birth and allegedly hid the infant’s body in a closet last month, according to court records obtained by WKYT-TV on Friday, September 26.

After giving birth, the cheerleader said she passed out and fell on top of the baby.

When she woke up, Snelling found the infant “blue and purple,” according to the records.

Cheerleader Laken Snelling’s Curious Internet Searches Before Arrest Revealed

At that time, Snelling believed the baby was dead. She wrapped up the infant and laid next to the body on the floor, which is described as giving her comfort.

Snelling’s baby was later found “wrapped in a towel inside of a black trash bag,” according to an arrest citation.

After allegedly concealing the baby in the closet, the records state that Snelling made her way to the University of Kentucky’s campus but did not go to class.

Snelling also found a University of Kentucky student clinic but did not go inside.

The cheerleader was eventually detained and taken to Lexington police headquarters before being transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Snelling told hospital staff that the baby displayed some fetal movement, including a “whimper,” after it was born.

A third party was responsible for calling authorities on August 27, reporting that an infant was found “cold to the touch” in the closet of a Lexington home.

Snelling was arrested on August 30 and charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence and concealing the birth of an infant.

When she was questioned by police, Snelling “admitted to giving birth” and to “concealing the birth by cleaning any evidence, placing all cleaning items used inside of a black trash bag, including the infant, who was wrapped in a towel.”

Snelling pleaded not guilty to all charges during a September 2 court appearance. She was released on $100,000 bond and has been living on house arrest with her parents in Tennessee.

The former athlete was back in a Lexington courtroom on Friday, where she waived her right to a preliminary trial. The case will now proceed to a grand jury.

The infant’s cause of death was ruled inconclusive and “extensive microscopic analyses are essential to determine the cause and manner of death,” according to a report from the Fayette County Coroner’s Office obtained by Us Weekly on September 4.

UK Cheerleader Had to ‘Crawl’ Back From ACL Injury Before Baby’s Death

“I understand the community’s concern and sensitivity surrounding the death of a child,” Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn said in the report. “We are conducting a thorough and methodical death investigation to ensure all facts are carefully considered.”

In a statement to Us on September 8, the Lexington Police Department said the investigation into the infant’s death remains “ongoing.”

Snelling is a former student at the University of Kentucky and had been a performer on the school’s STUNT cheerleading team for the past three seasons at the time of her arrest.

A university spokesperson confirmed to Us on September 6 that Snelling is no longer enrolled at the school or on the STUNT team.

Don’t Miss These 3 Underrated Thrillers on Netflix, HBO Max and More Before September Ends

There aren’t many days left in September, but there’s still enough time to catch a handful of thrillers before the end of the month.

The Watch With Us team has chosen a trio of underrated thrillers on Netflix, HBO Max and Prime Video that should close out your movie nights for the month.

Two of our picks are celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2025, and they couldn’t be more different from each other.

Our final pick is a film that really should have done better in theaters. But now it can find the audience it deserves.

10 Greatest Thrillers of the 1990s, Ranked

‘Copycat’ (1995)

Copycat revolves around Dr. Helen Hudson (Sigourney Weaver), a woman who thought she understood the minds of serial killers. One near-fatal encounter with an actual serial killer, Daryll Lee Cullum (Harry Connick Jr.), was more than enough to convince Helen to never leave her apartment again.

Cullum may be in prison, but a new serial killer is stalking the streets who is emulating some of the most famous murderers in American history. Inspector Mary Jane “M.J.” Monahan (Holly Hunter) approaches Helen about working on the case and ending her isolation. However, the copycat killer welcomes her involvement in the chase and proves that he can get to her at any time. Even consulting with Cullum himself may not be enough to end this reign of terror.

Copycat is streaming on Netflix until September 30.

‘Crimson Tide’ (1995)

Crimson Tide boasts an incredible cast, including Denzel Washington, Gene Hackman, Viggo Mortensen, James Gandolfini and Rocky Carroll. The late Tony Scott directed the film, and Quentin Tarantino devotees will surely recognize the dialogue he contributed to Michael Schiffer‘s script.

7 Must-Watch Thrillers on Paramount+ Right Now (September 2025)

Washington plays Lieutenant Commander Ronald “Ron” Hunter, the new executive officer for Captain Franklin “Frank” Ramsey (Hackman) on the USS Alabama. During a crisis, this nuclear submarine is called upon to launch an attack. Hunter and Ramsey’s disagreement over whether to follow through on that order splits the crew and leads to a mutiny. And if the crew can’t stop fighting themselves, they may perish at the hands of an enemy vessel.

Crimson Tide is streaming on Prime Video until September 30.

‘Criminal’ (2016)

Criminal may remind some movie lovers of Face/Off, although it doesn’t go so far as to let Kevin Costner and Ryan Reynolds play each other’s characters. Reynolds plays CIA agent Bill Pope, the only man standing between America’s adversaries gaining a program created by Jan Strook (Michael Pitt) that can override control of any nuclear weapon in the world.

When Pope is killed in action, his superior, Quaker Wells (Gary Oldman), turns to Dr. Franks (Tommy Lee Jones) for an experimental procedure to implant Pope’s memories into a dangerous criminal, Jerico Stewart (Costner). Jerico was a sociopath before the procedure, but Pope’s feelings for his wife, Jill (Gal Gadot), and their daughter trigger a newfound humanity. The fate of the world may come down to what Jerico decides to do next.

Criminal is streaming on HBO Max until September 30.
