Edo NSCDC Commandant slumps, dies

The Commandant of the Edo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gbenga Agun, has died.

It was reported that the NSCDC Commandant slumped on Thursday at an event organised by a peace ambassador in Benin City.

Agun, who was a guest speaker at the event organised by the International Association of World Peace Advocates, reportedly slumped shortly after delivering his keynote address.

A source told Daily Trust that late Agun was immediately rushed to the Military Base hospital located on the Airport road for medical attention.

He said Agun was confirmed dead at the hospital by a medical doctor.

Efforts to get a response from the state command were unsuccessful, as calls to the Command’s spokesperson, Efosa Ogbegbor, were not answered.

But an insider confirmed to Daily Trust that late Agun passed on at the military hospital following his collapse at an event.

Also, the National spokesman of the Corps, Babawale Afolabi, confirmed Agun’s death in a phone conversation with Daily Trust.
