Glo Foundation lifts women in Warri

Telecommunication firm, Glo Foundation has provided relief materials to women in Warri in its continued effort to reduce economic hardship meted on them.

The foundation presented food items to the women which included aged women, widows and mothers through its ‘Giving Back Together’ initiative sparking smiles and joy on the faces of the beneficiaries at the Urhobo college.

The outreach saw women thronged from Warri North, Warri South, Aladja, Ughelli South, Udu, and Uvwie local government areas of the state after the monthly environmental sanitation exercise in the state.

Each food pack handed out to the women contained staples such as 5kg of rice, 5kg of garri, semovita, spaghetti, vegetable oil, tomato paste, sardines, seasoning cubes, noodles, and other essentials.

The Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, Globacom, Mrs Jumobi Mofe-Damijo, explained that the Foundation had carried out similar exercises in other locations and would continue to expand its reach.

‘Our Food Drive is not just for anyone. It is targeted at the most vulnerable segment of the Nigerian society, that is women and children. When we help them, we are helping the society at large,’ she said.

One of the beneficiaries, Princess Omo-Udoyo of Ughelli North expressed gratitude, appreciate the foundation for the support.

‘I have not seen this before. I thank God and the Glo Foundation for this gift,’ she said.

Esther Okoro from Otu Jeremi in Ughelli South offered heartfelt prayers, thanking the foundation.

The Glo Foundation stated that the initiative would move to other Nigerian cities in the coming months, with thousands more women set to benefit from the scheme.
