The trade deficit of Cyprus was pound 5,155.4 mn in January-August 2025 compared to pound 4,154.8 mn in the corresponding period of 2024.
According to the Statistical Service of Cyprus, total imports of goods in August 2025 were pound 1,098.2 mn as compared to pound 981.8 mn in August 2024, recording an increase of 11.9%.
Imports from other EU Member States were pound 590.3 mn and from third countries pound 507.9 mn, compared to pound 585.6 mn and pound 396.2 mn respectively in August 2024.
Imports in August 2025 include the transfer of economic ownership of vessels, with total value of pound 34.4 mn as compared to pound 2.4 mn in August 2024.
Total exports of goods in August 2025 were pound 531.3 mn as compared to pound 290.8 mn in August 2024, recording an increase of 82.7%.
Exports to other EU Member States were pound 74,4 mn and to third countries pound 456.9 mn, compared to pound 73.7 mn and pound 217.1 mn respectively in August 2024.
Exports in August 2025 include the transfer of economic ownership of vessels, with total value of pound 41.4 mn as compared to pound 11 mn in August 2024.
Total imports of goods in January-August 2025 amounted to pound 8,884.6 mn as compared to pound 7,781.7 mn in January-August 2024, recording an increase of 14.2%.
Total exports of goods in January-August 2025 were pound 3,729.2 mn compared to pound 3,626.9 mn in January-August 2024, registering an increase of 2.8%.
The trade deficit was pound 5,155.4 mn in January-August 2025 compared to pound 4,154.8 mn in the corresponding period of 2024.
Meanwhile, total imports of goods amounted to pound 1,289.2 mn in July 2025 as compared to pound 1,079.4 mn in July 2024, recording an increase of 19.4%.
Exports of domestically produced products, including stores and provisions for ships and aircraft, were pound 384.1 mn in July 2025 as compared to pound 217.4 mn in July 2024, recording an increase of 76.7%.
Domestic exports of industrial products, excluding stores and provisions for ships and aircraft, were pound 373.8 mn in July 2025 compared to pound 208,6 mn in July 2024.
Domestic exports of agricultural products, excluding stores and provisions for ships and aircraft, were pound 8.6 mn in July 2025 compared to pound 7.7 mn in July 2024.
Exports of foreign products, including stores and provisions for ships and aircraft, were pound 180.9 mn in July 2025 as compared to pound 111.8 mn in July 2024, recording an increase of 61.8%.
