Magnitude 5 earthquake jolts Zambales, minor tremors felt in Manila

A magnitude 5 earthquake struck the eastern part of Zambales on Sunday afternoon, October 11, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Phivolcs said the quake, which was tectonic in origin, hit at 5:32 p.m., with its epicenter located 19 kilometers east of Cabangan, Zambales, at a depth of 100 kilometers.

Aftershocks are expected, the agency added.

State seismologists reported the following ground intensities in parts of Luzon:

Intensity 3

Cabangan and Iba, Zambales

Intensity 2

Calumpit, Bulacan

San Fernando, La Union

Guimba, Nueva Ecija

Bani, Dagupan City, PANGASINAN

Santa Ignacia, Tarlac City

Ramos, Tarlac

Botolan, Subic

San Marcelino, Zambales

Felt in the metro. Tremors were also reportedly felt in parts of Metro Manila.
