The three-time defending champions University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers and the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters are expected to figure in a grudge rematch as they open a new chapter of their scathing rivalry in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Season 25 basketball tournament today (Sunday, October 12) at the Cebu Coliseum.
Tip-off is set at 6 p.m.
UV and UC clashed in the championship during the past three seasons, with the Lancers prevailing each time.
The Lancers will try to complete a six-game sweep in the first round of elimination while the Webmasters are eyeing a bounceback win after being stunned by the University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu Fighting Maroons in their previous assignment.
The UV-UC duel topbill a heavy eight-game schedule that will kick off at 7:30 a.m. featuring the Don Bosco Technical College (DTBC)-Cebu Greywolves against the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers.
On the other hand, the five-peat seeking Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles gun for a third straight victory as the go up against the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue (UCLM) Baby Webmasters at 9 a.m.
In the other high school matches, the Benedicto Colleges (BC) Baby Cheetahs will clash with the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Baby Jaguars at 1:30 p.m. while the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons will tackle the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Baby Wildcats at 3 p.m.
In the collegiate division, the BC Cheetahs will lock horns with the UP Cebu Fighting Maroons at 10:30 a.m., the USPF Panthers and the USJ-R Jaguars will collide against each other at 12 nn while the CIT-U Wildcats will square off against the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors at 4:30 p.m.
