A suspected drug peddler was killed in an alleged shootout with police and P1.7 million worth of shabu was recovered during a sting in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte on Saturday.
Lt. Col. Esmael Madin, town police chief, said police were about to frisk and handcuff 25-year-old Saidamin Esmail after he handed over 250 grams of shabu to an agent.
However, after sensing it was a sting, Esmail and his companions, identified only as Mursid and Kadir, allegedly fired at the operatives, sparking a shootout near a state university campus.
