Dr. Gay Jane Perez has been appointed officer-in-charge of the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA), Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Tuesday.
Castro confirmed the appointment in a Viber message to reporters.
Perez replaces Dr. Joel Joseph Marciano Jr., who resigned in September.
The new PhilSA chief has served as deputy director general for the agency’s Space Science and Technology department since 2021.
She earned her doctorate in physics from the University of the Philippines and conducted postdoctoral research at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center./mcm
