The Kim Yoo-jung and Kim Young-dae-led ‘Dear X,’ a K-drama screened at the 2025 Busan International Film Festival, is set to premiere on HBO Max on Nov. 6.
The streaming service announced the release date of ‘Dear X,’ marking the first K-drama to be be screened on the platform across the Asia-Pacific region.
Based on the Van Zi-un-helmed webtoon of the same name, the 12-episode K-drama tells the story of Baek Jin-ah (Yoo-jung), a successful actress who rises to the top through manipulation and intimidation. Her twisted efforts are covered up by her partner, Yoon Jun-seo (Young-dae), who has long been supportive of her successful career.
The upcoming drama is the first series marking the strategic partnership between South Korean giant entertainment CJ ENM and Warner Bros. Discovery, which gives the former’s owned platform TVING its own hub on HBO Max. Through this partnership, it promises more South Korean co-produced content for global distribution on HBO Max.
Yoo-jung started her entertainment career as a child actress at the age of four until she transitioned to teen and adult roles later on. She is best known for her lead roles in the hit K-dramas ‘Queen Seondeok,’ ‘Dong Yi,’ ‘Moon Embracing the Sun,’ ‘Love in the Moonlight,’ ‘Backstreet Rookie’ and ‘My Demon.’ She also took the lead roles in the films ’20th Century Girl’ and ‘The 8th Night.’
Meanwhile, Young-dae is notable for his lead appearances in ‘Extraordinary You’ and’The Penthouse: War in Life.’ /ra
