Catholic bishops and priests from the Southern Luzon Tagalog Region (SoLTaRe) banded together to call for accountability within the government amid corruption scandals.
In a video posted by the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, bishops and priests from the region called on the government to ‘prosecute all the corrupt forthwith.’
‘Paring SoLTaRe says no to corruption, no to dynasty,’ the bishops and priests said.

The group was formed by bishops and priests from the Archdiocese of Lipa in Batangas; Diocese of Lucena, Diocese of Gumaca, and the Prelature of Infanta in Quezon; the Diocese of Boac in Marinduque; the Vicariate of Calapan and Vicariate of San Jose in Occidental Mindoro; the Diocese of Imus in Cavite; and the Diocese of San Pablo in Laguna.
Their call comes amid several corruption scandals involving infrastructure projects in the government, the most damning being the issue of flood control, where multiple projects turned out to be non-existent despite billions of allocation in government funds.
Many lawmakers were directly implicated in the alleged corruption, some being accused of accepting kickbacks in exchange for infrastructure deals. /gsg
