The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will soon have its own general hospital to cater to its own personnel and their dependents.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday at M.L. Quezon Boulevard in Taguig City’s New Lower Bicutan village and was led by PCG chief Adm. Ronnie Gil Gavan.
Gavan said the building is expected to be finished three years from now.
He also noted that the contractor placed a bid of just over P700 million for the project with a P1.1 billion approved budget or ceiling price.
‘The bidder, to our surprise, bidded with a far lower price,’ he said in an interview with reporters. ‘You can be assured that this will be done. [as] cost efficient as possible.’
The project is mandated by law under the Republic Act No. 11372 or the act for the establishment and construction of PCG’s own general hospital.
Meanwhile, the PCG also conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for the Coast Guard First Responder and Nursing Service Facility. – Jossa Rafoncel Par, Inquirer intern
