A friendly football match calling for an end to widespread corruption in the government was held yesterday at the Claret School of Quezon City.
Students, public figures and civic leaders attended the ‘Penalty Shootout Against Corruption’ creative protest as the country grapples with anomalous infrastructure deals, budget insertions and kickbacks.
Organizers compared the nation’s political system to a rigged football game where corruption skews the rules and ordinary Filipinos end up as the ‘biggest losers.’
Corruption ‘destroys trust, poisons teamwork and breaks the spirit of the entire team,’ they said.
Meanwhile, the Manila Cathedral is encouraging the youth to attend an anti-corruption community prayer on Oct. 31.
