For Halloween, American actress Julia Fox wore a pink suit with blood stains to portray Jackie Kennedy from when her husband, the late former United States President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated in 1963.
Fox, who dressed up for a Halloween party in New York City, drew criticisms with some branding such a costume choice as ‘tasteless’ and ‘horrifically offensive.’
Among those who expressed their disapproval was Jackie’s grandson Jack Schlossberg.
‘Julia Fox glorifying political violence is disgusting, desperate and dangerous. I’m sure her late grandmother would agree,’ he wrote on his X page.

This seemingly did not faze Fox as she still shared photos of herself in the costume and defended it via her Instagram page on Saturday, Nov. 1.
‘I’m dressed as Jackie Kennedy in the pink suit. Not as a costume, but as a statement,’ she said.
‘When her husband was assassinated, she refused to change out of her blood-stained clothes, saying, ‘I want them to see what they’ve done,” she continued.
Fox was referring to the instance when the former First Lady of the United States wore her blood-stained clothes during then-Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson’s swearing-in ceremony, which was held immediately after the president’s assassination.
‘The image of the delicate pink suit splattered with blood is one of the most haunting juxtapositions in modern history. Beauty and horror. Poise and devastation,’ Fox said.
Fox further honored Jackie and described the latter’s decision not to change her clothes after the shooting of her husband as an ‘act of extraordinary bravery.’
‘It was performance, protest, and mourning all at once. A woman weaponizing image and grace to expose brutality,’ she said.
‘It’s about trauma, power, and how femininity itself is a form of resistance. Long live Jackie O,’ she concluded her post.
