President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. visited his father’s grave on Sunday immediately after returning to the country following his trip to South Korea for the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Summit.
According to the Presidential Communications Office, Marcos visited his father at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig alongside his wife, First Lady Louise ‘Liza’ Marcos.
Marcos Jr. departed for South Korea to attend the 32nd Apec Summit and returned to Manila on Sunday at 2:22 p.m. Marcos Sr. served as president of the Philippines from 1965 to 1986 and was ousted during the People Power Revolution after widespread public discontent over his dictatorship. While his more than 20-year regime is hailed by supporters as the ‘golden age’ of the Philippines, it is widely regarded as one of the country’s darkest periods, marked by rampant corruption, human rights abuses, and the widespread disappearance of critics and dissidents.
