President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. landed back in Manila on Sunday afternoon following his ‘fruitful’ participation in the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Summit in South Korea.
PR 001, or the aircraft carrying Marcos, landed at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City at 2:22 p.m.
In his arrival statement, Marcos said he joined a series of ‘productive meetings’ tackling several topics, including supply chain disruptions, climate change, economic inequality, as well as technological transformation.
‘I’m pleased to report that our engagements were robust, our discussions fruitful, and our shared commitment to collective action reaffirmed,’ said Marcos in his speech.
Among the topics Marcos said he discussed is the Philippines’ vision for a future-ready economy, particularly, four national priorities: narrowing the digital divide for Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) through equitable access to digital services and financial inclusion; improving infrastructure to advance movements of goods and people; strengthening supply chain resiliency; and promoting digital literacy and upskilling for MSMEs, women, and other key sectors.
‘These priorities were well-received, and we worked with our partners to identify concrete ways forward, as reflected in the outcome documents adopted and concluded during the visit,’ said Marcos.
Meanwhile, Marcos said he also met with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung and Chilean President Gabriel Boric to reaffirm and deepen bilateral relations. Furthermore, Marcos said he also discussed potential investments, citing a P50 billion agreement between the Philippine Economic Zone Authority and Samsung Electromechanics was signed, which is expected to generate over 3,000 high-technology jobs.
‘This commitment is vital, as Korean FDI (foreign direct investment) inflows reached P55 million in the first half of 2025, reflecting strong investor confidence that this administration is seeking to translate into concrete long-term commitments,’ said Marcos.
