The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) suspended sea travel in Romblon Monday morning due to rough sea conditions triggered by Severe Tropical Storm Tino.
Romblon is under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1.
‘All vessels are reminded to take precautionary measures and be extra vigilant in monitoring the movement of the Severe Tropical Storm if deemed to be affected by said weather disturbance,’ the PCG said.
‘Sea travel is risky for all types or tonnage of vessels. All mariners must remain in port or, if underway, seek shelter or safe harbor as soon as possible until winds and waves subside,’ the state weather bureau, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned.
In its 5 a.m. update, Pagasa reported that Tino was spotted some 430 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, moving west-southwest at 30 kilometers per hour (kph) with a maximum sustained wind speed of 110 kph near the center and gusts of 135 kph.
‘Tino is forecast to continuously intensify and may reach typhoon category within the next 12 hours,’ Pagasa added
