Philippine inflation steady at 1.7% in October

Inflation held steady at 1.7 percent in October as food price increases slowed across the country, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Wednesday.

The latest figure stayed within the 1.4 percent to 2.2 percent forecast range of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

With inflation remaining subdued, it reinforces expectations for additional policy rate cuts through the rest of the year and into 2026, as the BSP is seen maintaining a pro-growth stance to jolt the economy.

Based on the PSA report, softer price pressures on food, beverage and transportation made up for the increases in other consumer essentials.

On the other hand, prices of clothing, housing, communication and personal care increased at a faster pace in October.
