Together, we can build the blocks for a stronger, more resilient, and healthier Europe, in line with the agenda for the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, said the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, in his address on Thursday, at the 13th International Multithematic Scientific Bio-medical Congress (IMBMC), organised between 6 and 8 November by the Cyprus Medical Association and the Medical School of the European University of Cyprus.
According to the President of the Republic, the congress celebrates scientific Cyprus, a collaboration with medical science and cutting-edge research, honouring not only the achievements of medical science, but also the power of brilliant minds and strong hearts, working together for a common goal of improving the health of the citizens, which is one of the government’s main priorities. ‘Our strength lies in sharing best practice while promoting European Union values of solidarity, integrity, and inclusion’, he noted.
He added that during this congress world experts will share their wisdom in the fields of environmental health, medical genetics, artificial intelligence, and integrative medicine.
‘These themes are not isolated. They are the foundation on which we create new horizons in health and well-being, and we are dedicated to ensuring that innovation share can reach all people in every community’, he added.
He then expressed his appreciation to the European University of Cyprus School of Medicine, ‘one of our best ambassadors outside Cyprus’, and encouraged all attendees to visit the premises of the university.
‘I had the chance recently to inaugurate another new building in the university. We are really proud for what you are doing and offering not only to the Cypriot society, but also having so many foreign students’, he noted in that regard.
He also expressed his appreciation to the Cyprus Medical Association and its President, Petros Agathangelou, ‘for their initiative and tireless dedication to promoting scientific excellence, both in Cyprus and globally.’
‘This congress is an invaluable opportunity to highlight our island, not only as a scientific hub, but as a nation of friendship, tradition, and beauty’, continued President Christodoulides.
He added that the meeting comes at a very important milestone for Cyprus, as it prepares to take the helm for the presence of the Council of the European Union in less than 52 days, standing with the European family to tackle common challenges of climate change, ageing populations, digital, and green transition.
‘Together, we can build the blocks for a stronger, more resilient, and of course, healthier Europe, in line with the agenda for the Sustainable Development Goals 2030. We share a vision of a brighter, more sustainable future for all our children, where science and academia pave the way for continuing growth’, he stressed.
In closing, he welcomed delegates who have travelled to Cyprus and thanked them for their dedication, expertise, and friendship.
‘May this congress reignite our common sense of purpose and strengthen our ongoing quest for progress, peace, and prosperity for all of us’, he concluded.
