A magnitude 4.8 earthquake shook La Union on Thursday afternoon, said the Philippine Institute of Seismology and Volcanology (Phivolcs).
Phivolcs said the earthquake was recorded at exactly 5:57 p.m. with its epicenter located 7 kilometers southwest of Bauang, La Union.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of 10 kilometers.
Phivolcs said Intensity III was recorded in Baguio City, while Intensity I was recorded in Itogon, Benguet.
Meanwhile, the following instrumental intensities were felt in other areas:
Intensity III – City of Vigan, Ilocos Sir; Bani, Pangasinan;
Intensity II – San Fernando, La Union; City of Dagupan
Intensity I – Bangar and Santol, La Union; Bolinao, Pangasinan
No damage or aftershocks are expected to be caused by the quake.
