Police officer killed in Mukono attack

A police officer, Emma Bagenda, attached to Ntawo Police Post, was on Sunday night killed by unknown assailants in Ntawo, Mukono District.

According to the area councilor, John Ssebuya, the OC was called by unknown people informing him to get rid of the robbers who were in the area that night.

The two unknown assailants raided the area at 11:00pm and found the OC and his colleague at the police post.

“The OC who was with another police officer was targeted and killed, and colleague was shot and left in critical condition,” Mr Ssebuya said.

According to Annet Mutesi, an eyewitness, “the OC was shot four times. He tried to take off after being shot once and they ran after him and shot again just like 150 metres from the police post.”

The motive behind the attack is not yet clear, and investigations are ongoing.
