A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck off the waters of Davao Occidental town on Saturday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
In its updated earthquake bulletin, Phivolcs downgraded the magnitude to 4.5 from the earlier reported magnitude of 4.8. The agency also updated the earthquake’s depth from 201 kilometers from 199 kilometers.
Phivolcs said that the earthquake occurred at 8 a.m. with its epicenter located east of Malita in Davao Occidental.
Meanwhile, Pagasa said that the earthquake’s intensity was reported in the following areas:
Intensity III: Malungon, Sarangani
Intensity II: General Santos City and Alabel in Sarangani
Intensity I: Malapatan, Sarangani
The following instrumental intensities were recorded from the following areas:
Intensity III: Malungon, Sarangani
Intensity II: Malitbog, Bukidnon; Santa Maria, Davao Occidental; Alabel, Sarangani; General Santos City
Intensity I: Matanao and Digos City, Davao City; Malapatan and Maasim, Sarangani; Polomolok and Tupi, South Cotabato
No damage and aftershocks are expected from this event.
