The dynamic duo of detectives Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde is back in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ ‘Zootopia 2,’ but this time, they are the ones being hunted!
Yes, the second installment of the hit Disney animation movie was a long time coming (almost a decade late), but the long wait is worth it as the viewers get to see the chemistry between the overzealous bunny and the wisecracking fox – played by Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman, respectively – settle into a comfortable rhythm as detective partners.
In ‘Zootopia 2,’ the rookie cops strive to prove themselves to the academy, while senior officers, driven by jealousy, undermine them at every turn. It boasts of a lot of crazy chase scenes and twists as Judy and Nick try to outsmart their fellow cops who suspect them of conspiring with a mysterious reptile wanted for a supposed plot to turn the mammal metropolis upside down.
To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town to pull out yet another hustle to save the animal kingdom.
‘Zootopia 2’ also seems to draw parallels in real-life human experiences such as inclusivity, belonging, and justice. There is more to this sharp, witty animated sequel than meets the eye. Overall, the movie is a laughter-filled romp that will not disappoint kids and kids at heart.
New animal characters await the viewers. There’s the new mayor, the long-maned stallion Brian Winddancer (voiced by Patrick Warburton), the helpful Pawbert Lynxley (Andy Samberg), and Gary De’Snake (Ke Huy Quan).
Meanwhile, characters from the first movie such as the popstar gazelle played by Shakira and Idris Elba as buffalo police chief Bogo are also back.
Rounding out the voice actors are Fortune Feimster, Bonnie Hunt, Don Lake, Nate Torrence, Jenny Slate, Alan Tudyk, Maurice LaMarche, Leah Latham, Josh Dallas, Tommy Chong, Mark Rhino Smith, Raymond Persi.
Oscar winner Jared Bush, co-director/co-writer of ‘Zootopia,’ and director/co-writer of ‘Encanto’, is back at the helm together with Byron Howard, while Yvett Merino, the Oscar-winning producer of ‘Encanto’, wears the producer’s hat.
‘Zootopia 2’ is now showing in Philippine cinemas.
