Sotto inspects fire-affected parts of Senate building

Senate President Vicente C. Sotto III personally inspected and assessed the extent of the damage affected by the early morning fire that broke out on the 3rd floor of the Senate building on Sunday.

The blaze originated at the office of the Legislative Technical Affairs Bureau and was declared under control by the Bureau of Fire Protection at 7:43 a.m.

Sotto instructed the Senate maintenance team to continue cleanup and restoration work in the Session Hall to ensure that the plenary can be fully prepared in time for the session on Tuesday.

In lieu of the Pasay Day holiday on December 2, Senate workforce shall operate on a need basis.

Only employees directly involved in the budget hearing will be required or permitted to report for work.

Despite the incident, the Senate President confirmed that the session will push through tomorrow at 1 p.m.
