‘No surprise to me and the people who know me.’
Former Sen. Grace Poe said the Independent Commission for Infrastructure’s (ICI) recommendation to further refer the investigation against her to the Ombudsman is a clear acknowledgement that former Public Works and Highways Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo’s allegations are false.
Poe said it also proved there’s no evidence to support filing charges against her.
‘This is no surprise to me and to the people who know me because I [have] always conducted myself with utmost integrity. Rest assured that I will submit to further investigations by the Ombudsman to the end that the truth will actually be uncovered and appropriate charges are eventually brought against those who are truly responsible,’ said Poe.
In his bombshell exposé before the Senate blue ribbon hearing into anomalous flood control projects, Bernardo claimed that Poe received a 20% commitment or kickback from DPWH projects.
According to Bernardo, a staff member of Poe requested if the lawmaker could be accommodated in the DPWH NEP.
The ICI on Wednesday afternoon referred the following individuals to the Office of the Ombudsman for further investigation and a possible case build up: Poe, former Sen. Nancy Binay, Sen. Francis Escudero, and Sen. Mark Villar.
