A humanitarian aid delivery has been scheduled for December 20 within the framework of the ‘Amalthea’ humanitarian corridor, President Nikos Christodoulides said Friday.
Speaking in Brussels, after the all-night session of the European Council, the President of the Republic referred to the Conclusions on the Middle East, underlining the importance of that there is specific reference to the Cyprus Maritime Corridor. Given the opportunity, he said he informed his counterparts of the new delivery.
He noted that it concerns 950 tons of humanitarian aid in 44 containers from the Republic of Cyprus, the United Arab Emirates, France, Slovakia and Kuwait.
President Christodoulides also referred to the letter of the President of the European Commission on migration, with two references to Cyprus.
The first one, he said, concerns the positive perspective of the Republic of Cyprus and the progress in the effort for full Schengen accession, and in the second one, Cyprus together with Austria and Germany, are mentioned as the countries with the most returns among all EU member states, ‘the most returns of migrants to Syria’, he noted.
