The Department of Meteorology issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms that is valid until 0900 on Tuesday.
CyMet said that isolated heavy thunderstorms are expected to affect the island at times initially mainly the western and southern coastal areas and gradually also the rest of the island.
In thunderstorm hail is expected while wind may be variable strengthening.
Precipitation rate is likely to exceed the 35 millimeters per hour.
