Seven Cypriot track and field athletes in the Olympic Scholarships for Athletes, Los Angeles 2028

The International Olympic Committee (IOC), following a proposal by the Cyprus Olympic Committee (COC), has approved the inclusion of track and field athletes Elena Kulichenko, Olivia Fotopoulou, Filippa Fotopoulou, Valentina Savva, Styliana Ioannidou, Iosif Kesidis, and Petros Michaelides in the program ‘Olympic Scholarships for Athletes – Los Angeles 2028.’

The Cyprus Olympic Committee (COC) said in a press release that the ‘Olympic Scholarships for Athletes’ program refers to athlete support schemes funded by Olympic Solidarity of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), with the aim of providing the best possible preparation to secure qualification and participation in the Olympic Games.

As announced, financial support scholarships totaling $320,000 will be awarded to 24 Cypriot athletes. This support is in addition to the scholarships granted to athletes through the cooperation of the Cyprus Olympic Committee with the A.G. Leventis Foundation, the sponsorships athletes receive through the Cyprus Olympic Committee’s cooperation with its proud partners, as well as the remaining programs of Olympic Solidarity.
