Cyprus aligns itself with EU call for respect to Somalia’s territorial integrity, MFA says

The Republic of Cyprus aligns itself with the European Union’s call for respect to the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

In a post on X, the Foreign Ministry said that the Republic of Cyprus aligns itself with the European Union’s call for respect to the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, “and underscores its position that Somaliland remains an integral part of the Federal Republic of Somalia.”

Cyprus, it added, repeats its commitment to the African Union, EU, and wider international efforts in support of strengthening state- and peacebuilding in Somalia, including as provided for in relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

“Cyprus strongly advocates for the peaceful resolution of all disputes through dialogue, in accordance with the UN Charter,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded.
