Together we will work towards a financially strong Europe, German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, said in a post on ‘X’, on the occasion of the assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the EU by Cyprus.
“Cyprus assumes the EU Council Presidency from the 1st of January 2026. Dear Nikos Christodoulides, I look forward to our collaboration,” Merz noted.
Together, Merz added, “we will work towards a financially strong Europe, European competitiveness, and reducing bureaucracy”.
