Cyprus Presidency supports Europe’s strategic autonomy, French Ambassador says

Europe needs its strategic autonomy and the Cyprus Presidency is supporting this point of view, said Clélia Chevrier Kolacko, Ambassador of France to Cyprus, in her statements during the French-Cypriot School’s ppen day in Nicosia on Saturday.

Speaking of the school, she expressed her satisfaction with students’ results and highlighted mobility and studies opportunities through the school’s network worldwide.

Speaking in Greek, the French Ambassador explained the French-Cypriot School is accepting children from the age of 2 years up to the French Baccalaureate and Cypriot Apolytirion levels and is recognised by the Ministries of Education of France and Cyprus.

She added that in the school there are children from 40 countries where they learn French, Greek and English, and they also learn either German or Spanish.

‘After the school, the students can study around the world to the best universities. This school is part of the network of French schools all over the world. Welcome!,’ she noted.

Asked about the school’s trajectory during these last years, the French diplomat said that that the school is thriving, with many new students both in Nicosia and also in Limassol.

‘We are very proud of it. For Baccalauréat and Apolytirion we have 100% of good results and 80% of the students are above the average,’ she added.

Asked about the school’s plans for the coming years for the school, she said the Embassy wants the school to develop.

‘In Limassol we are just beginning the development so we think that the future is really bright. We have also this evolution in the network of all the French schools which is also a very good opportunity for kids to go all over the world, not just for their studies but also during their time here in the school, they can meet with other children and go for instance for youth games with choirs, with orchestra, they can travel the world and I think it’s a really good experience for them,’ she noted.

Asked also to send a message on the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU, whose work has just started, the French Ambassador expressed the view that the presidency is a very good opportunity for Cyprus to share its experience, but also its values, and France is here to support this presidency.

‘We share the same objective for Europe. Europe needs its strategic autonomy and this presidency is supporting this point of view and it is really important,’ she concluded.
