The heat index reached the danger level in eleven areas on Tuesday and peaked at 45ºC in Pili, Camarines Sur, according to the state weather bureau.
Heat index refers to how hot it actually feels to the human body when air temperature and humidity are combined.
The danger level heat index is from 42ºC to 51ºC, and increases risks of heat cramps and heat exhaustion, which could lead to heat stroke.
The following areas also experienced dangerous heat indices on Tuesday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa)
Bacnotan, La Union – 42ºC
Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – 42ºC
Cubi Pt., Subic Bay Olongapo City – 42ºC
Tau-Camiling, Tarlac – 42ºC
Sangley Point, Cavite City – 43ºC
San Jose, Occidental Mindoro – 42ºC
Iloilo City, Iloilo – 42ºC
Dumangas, Iloilo – 43ºC
Catarman, Northern Samar – 42ºC
Borongan, Eastern Samar – 42ºC
Sangley Point in Cavite City experienced dangerous heat indices for the last six days while San Jose, Occidental Mindoro had the same experience for four straight days.
