The Department of Tourism (DOT) on Friday rolled out a domestic tourism campaign offering more than 3,000 discounted travel deals as it seeks to boost travel during the industry’s lean season, according to a department statement.
Dubbed ‘Discover More to Love,’ the campaign will run from July to November and features discounted hotel stays, travel packages and promotional airfares from partner tourism establishments, the DOT said.
Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay said the initiative was developed in response to calls from the private sector for stronger government support in promoting domestic travel, particularly during the slower months for the tourism industry.
‘True to its mandate, the DOT will promote destinations, provide tourism information, and connect travelers with accredited tourism enterprises. We will not be involved in booking trips or selling travel packages. That is the role of the private sector,’ Angara-Mathay said in a statement.
The department said the campaign is supported by more than 70 hotels and resorts, tour operators, online travel platforms and partner airlines, including Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, AirAsia Philippines and Sunlight Air.
According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, domestic tourism generated P3.26 trillion in visitor spending in 2025, while the tourism industry employed 7.7 million Filipinos, or 15.7 percent of the country’s workforce.
The campaign was launched during the Central Philippines Tourism Expo 2026 in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, a three-day event showcasing destinations and tourism products from several regions across the country.
Angara-Mathay said the DOT is also stepping up efforts to recover the decrease in Korean travelers, while continuing to woo the rest of its top source markets.
She admitted that the competitive pricing in other Southeast Asian destinations is pulling in more Koreans, which traditionally has been the Philippines’ number one source market for foreign visitors.
