The Consul General of Cyprus in New York, Kyriakos Pogiatzis, hosted on Tuesday a working lunch for the Consuls General of the member states of the European Union in New York city, with the Commissioner for International Relations of the City of New York, Ana Maria Archila, as guest of honour, in the context of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union which wrapped up on June 30
This is the second time that Cyprus has held the Presidency of the Council, the first being in 2012, eight years after the country’s full accession to the Union.
Pogiatzis gave a brief presentation of the objectives and priorities of the Presidency, as well as its results in a number of areas.
Commissioner Archila, on her part, outlined the priorities of the current Administration of the City of New York falling within her portfolio, while both sides expressed their shared willingness to continue the excellent cooperation in the areas of competence of the Consulates General and the Commissioner.
