Speculation over the long-rumored film collaboration between Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto intensified after a singer announced on social media the supposed event where the movie is set to be announced.
Star Music recording artist Sofi Fermazi took to Facebook on Wednesday, July 1, to announce that she would serve as a guest artist at Vice Ganda and Sotto’s supposed movie announcement event scheduled for July 5.
‘Hello my dear Softies, I’ll be performing as the Special Guest Artist at Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto’s New Movie Announcement on July 5, 2026, at 4:00 PM at the Gateway 2 Mall Quantum Area. See you all!’ read the now-deleted post.
The post was accompanied by an art card promoting the supposed announcement event but was later taken down. Screenshots of the post were reuploaded by various social media pages.
Vice Ganda and Sotto have not officially confirmed the rumored film project. No production company has also commented on the event as of writing.
Rumors of a collaboration between the two box-office stars have been circulating for a few months now, particularly in connection with this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
In an earlier interview with the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors, the ‘It’s Showtime’ host declined to confirm reports linking him to Sotto for an MMFF entry.
‘Hindi ko alam. Hindi ako masyadong nagbabasa lately. Basta, isa siyang pasabog na collab,’ he said, adding that the project would mark a first should it push through.
‘Siyempre ang tagal ko na rin namang nagso-solo movie. So excited din ‘yung mga tao na makita kung sino ‘yung ibang puwede ko pang makasama sa pelikula,’ he continued.
Vice Ganda won Best Actor for his performance in ‘Call Me Mother,’ last MMFF. His comedy films have also consistently ranked among the festival’s highest-grossing entries over the years.
Sotto, on the other hand, has also headlined numerous festival hits through the decades, including the longrunning ‘Enteng Kabisote’ franchise. He made a landmark return for the festival’s 50th edition in 2024, starring in his first-ever full-length drama, ‘The Kingdom.’
Meanwhile, Fermazi released her debut extended play (EP) ‘u4me’ earlier this year. She also appeared as a contestant on ‘Expecially for You,’ a segment on ‘It’s Showtime.’
