President Irfaan Ali on Thursday rejected allegations surrounding his privately owned farm, insisting that the property has always been publicly known and that all investments connected to it have been properly disclosed.
The president addressed the issue following his return from the 51st Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), in response to claims made by opposition political figure Azruddin Mohamed.
Ali said suggestions that the farm had recently been uncovered were false.
‘My farm is not a discovery. It is public information,’ the head of state said.
He said the development of the farm was financed through legitimate means and received no special treatment from the state.
The president also said all financial obligations linked to the investment had been declared to the Integrity Commission.
