President Jennifer Simons leaves here on Wednesday for a four-day working visit to England focusing on the further development of the Surinamese economy and strengthening international economic cooperation
The government said that she will hold talks with representatives of international financial institutions and the business community regarding investments, economic development, and the opportunities offered by the Surinamese offshore sector.
It said that the visit to London is at the invitation of several international financial institutions and that her delegation will also include the Minister of Finance and Planning, Adelien Wijnerman.
The government said an important part of the programme is a meeting with representatives of Bank of America, one of the largest financial institutions in the world and that the economic outlook of Suriname and investment opportunities, among other things, will be discussed.
In addition, the Surinamese President will meet with the top management of Subsea 7, an international company active in offshore engineering and energy services with the authorities here saying the discussions will cover developments within the international energy sector, offshore infrastructure, maritime services, and other topics of mutual interest.
According to the government, the talks align with the broader dialogue Suriname is conducting with international market leaders regarding the opportunities arising from the growing offshore oil and gas sector and the country’s expected economic development.
The working visit also provides an opportunity for the exchange of knowledge, international experience, and best practices in the fields of finance, offshore development, and sustainable economic growth.
The government emphasizes its commitment to long-term cooperation with international financial institutions and the business community to attract sustainable investments and create new economic perspectives for Suriname.
