FCMB moves to drive investment in healthcare sector

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has concluded plans to host the inaugural FCMB Healthcare Summit bringing together healthcare providers, investors, financiers, policymakers, development partners and industry experts to explore practical financing solutions and strategic partnerships for strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare sector.

The summit, themed ‘Financing Growth: Unlocking Opportunity, Building the Future of Healthcare,’ taking place on July 28, 2026, underscores FCMB’s commitment to supporting critical sectors of the Nigerian economy through innovative financing, strategic partnerships and capacity-building initiatives that promote sustainable growth.

The Minister of State for Health, Dr. Iziaq Salako, will deliver the keynote address, ‘The Future of Healthcare Financing in Nigeria,’ setting the stage for discussions on financing priorities, investment opportunities and the future of healthcare delivery.

The programme will feature keynote presentations, executive conversations and panel discussions focused on improving access to capital, strengthening governance, enhancing investment readiness and building resilient healthcare businesses capable of long-term growth.

Speaking ahead of the summit, FCMB’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Yemisi Edun, said a resilient healthcare system is essential to Nigeria’s economic development and requires strong collaboration between the public and private sectors.

‘Sustainable healthcare delivery goes beyond clinical excellence. It depends on access to appropriate financing, sound business management, strategic partnerships and long-term investment. Through this summit, we aim to bring key stakeholders together to identify practical solutions that will strengthen healthcare businesses and improve health outcomes for Nigerians,’ she said.

Edun reaffirmed FCMB’s commitment to supporting healthcare providers with tailored financial solutions that enable infrastructure expansion, equipment acquisition, working capital support and operational efficiency.

Nigeria’s healthcare sector continues to face significant challenges, including infrastructure deficits, rising operating costs, foreign exchange pressures, workforce shortages and limited access to investment. Addressing these issues requires stronger collaboration among healthcare providers, financial institutions, government and development partners.

The summit will also feature a dedicated ‘Financing Healthcare Growth’ session showcasing FCMB’s healthcare-focused financing solutions. In addition, Mrs. Njide Ndili, President of the Healthcare Federation of Nigeria, will deliver an industry address on leadership, collaboration and sustainable financing.

Health Business Academy for Africa (HBA), the summit’s technical partner, will provide strategic and industry expertise to support conversations aimed at unlocking capital, strengthening partnerships and building sustainable, high-performing healthcare organisations across Africa.
