The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has unveiled its 2025 By-Laws, marking the first comprehensive review of the Authority’s regulatory framework in 21 years as part of efforts to strengthen airport governance and improve operational efficiency.
The new by-laws were officially launched by the Chairman of the FAAN Board, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who commended the management for updating the legal framework to reflect the realities of today’s aviation industry.
Ganduje described the revised by-laws as a major milestone that would enhance airport governance, improve operational efficiency and position FAAN to better meet the demands of a rapidly evolving aviation sector.
Speaking at the unveiling, FAAN’s Managing Director and Chief Executive, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, said the previous by-laws, last reviewed in 2005, had become obsolete and were no longer adequate to address the complexities of the modern aviation environment.
She explained that the 2025 By-Laws were developed to align with current aviation realities, international best practices and FAAN’s evolving operational framework.
According to Kuku, the revised document will serve as a comprehensive guide for FAAN personnel, airport users, stakeholders and industry partners, while providing a stronger legal foundation for airport management across Nigeria.
She noted that the new framework is expected to promote safer, more secure and commercially sustainable airport operations throughout the country’s airport network.
‘The 2025 By-Laws reflect our commitment to building a more responsive, efficient and globally competitive airport system,’ she said.
Kuku added that the revised regulations reinforce FAAN’s commitment to regulatory compliance, operational excellence and improved service delivery, while ensuring the Authority is better equipped to respond to emerging challenges in the aviation industry.
The review, according to FAAN represents the first major overhaul of its by-laws in over two decades and forms part of ongoing reforms aimed at modernising airport administration, strengthening institutional governance and enhancing the passenger experience across Nigeria’s airports.
