The Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) has deployed 2,913 personnel across the Caraga region as part of security measures for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s fifth State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Monday in Quezon City, Metro Manila.
There have been no anti-SONA rallies held in urban areas in Caraga Region, including the cities of Butuan, Surigao, Bayugan, Cabadbaran, Bislig and Tandag.
.PRO 13 said police officers were assigned to checkpoints, traffic and route security, patrol operations, quick-response teams, medical units and civil disturbance management contingents.
Other support units were also strategically positioned across the region to maintain peace and order and respond to possible security incidents during the Sona.
All police units in Caraga were placed on full alert, with authorities intensifying police visibility and intelligence monitoring.
PRO 13 said it was also coordinating with local government units, other government agencies and concerned stakeholders to address security threats and public safety concerns.
Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano Magistrado IV, PRO 13 director, said police personnel had been instructed to observe maximum tolerance and comply with established Philippine National Police protocols, particularly in dealing with demonstrations and public assemblies.
